I haven't played pretty much in the last year but hearing that shocks are going to be in Guilds of Ravnica kinda has me interested to start playing again. Plus, Ravnica.
Shut your goddamn mouth, Gene!
Something about this card makes me think it's gonna be super OP and banned quickly. A two-mana, one-color sorcery to destroy any creature. Sure, you have to sacrifice one too, but you get a benefit out of that part too.
I do NOT understand why they still print garbage like this. This is a mediocre, balanced card at two mana, three mana cheaper than this, and it's still not a great card at that cost.
Convoke is back and it's once again garbage. most of the cards are terribly overpriced, forcing you to convoke.
Strands has two things going against it: It's a sorcery and you have to sac one of your guys. You have to 2 for 1 yourself on your own turn to remove an opponents creature. It's pretty bad.
This set is turning out to be a massive turd. You'd think they would have learned from Zendikar not to fuck up a fan favorite set.

Severed strands is not really good. The sorcery type, and sacrificing a creature makes it situational as well. It's not bad, but I doubt it'll see much play. The life gain is not important at all. Could become better when we get Orzhov, which will surely have some cards that want you to sacrifice creatures. It's playable in draft, but I wouldn't pick up more than 1, maybe 2.
Command the storm is a bit high on its mana cost, but 5 damage at instant speed is a great effect in limited. It's not a card printed for constructed, though, and will see no play in 60 card formats.
Overall, the set doesn't really interest m eall that much except for a few cards (shocks and some dimir cards) bug I play edh exclusively so that's usually all I get from a set.
Monk, I need a monk!!!
Thinking of giving MTG Arena a go, maybe try playing for free and seeing how badly I get stompedI want to play Magic very much but just don't have the time or money for the paper game any longer. I'm just leery of sinking money into another digital card game like I did with Hearthstone, which I just ended up hating passionately.

It's not that bad as you are usually paired with other newbie decks that you are given. The game gives you a plethora of coins, enough to buy about pack a day, and as you open packs you get "wildcards" which can be used to buy a card specifically. It ends up being pretty fair and keeps you playing while you feel like you are advancing with your collection. Of course it is a slow process at first and you do need to play enough to keep up, but it does feel a lot better than Hearthstone where you would only be abl eto get a pack once a week at best.
Anyone watching the stream?
I missed a couple spoilers, but the trailer is pretty good.
People crying in the audience is cringy as fuck though.
nice trailer indeed
IMO they need to blast his ass into space for good. We've been on the Bolas circlejerk since Shards of Alara. Wizards is approaching GW levels of plot stalling, the story needs to move on.
I vote we return to the old style of hopping from plane to plane without a big overarching story.
