I've looked everywhere for this but can't seem to find an answer. I want to get a new character slot, so I need 800 gems(duh). I don't want to spend real money, but I don't have enough gold on any single character to buy said gems. If I bought say, 400 on one and 400 on the other, would my account have a total of 800? Or would I be stuck with 400 on each?

It's shared between your characters. You can also put money in your bank and use it on any character.

I believe gems are account-wide. Plus, I'm fairly certain you could just put your gold in your bank, which I know is account wide, and buy all the gems on one character regardless.
