This martial 'art' will beat any other, every time.
Best method to defeat BJ Penn, Jean-Claud Pierre, or any other king-duche-bag:
without any weapon, this will make them run from you...

just grab some poo and smear it on your body.

    Chase after them.

There is no such thing as a "best" martial art. The martial art is only as good as its user.

The deadly art of Muay Thai.

Rofl all these fucking Muy Thai lovers. A martial artist can use whatever technique is necessary to subdue their opponents. The strongest fighter usually wins.

I'm assuming by Ju Jitsu you mean traditional japanese ju jitsu, rather than BJJ.

Judo would wipe the floor with all these other martial arts, which are mostly just for show and trained using steps and compliant ukes.

    ninjutsu why isn't it there?

I like how Ju-Jitsu is the most popular martial art on this poll because its the most common one used in MMA fights.

When you speak of Chinese martial arts, Kung Fu itself is not a martial arts style. Kung fu can refer to any skill achieved through hard work and practice, not necessarily martial.

Brazilian Ju-Jitsu has taken off because of the Gracie family's dominance in MMA using this style.

Of course it all comes down to the stronger fighter most of the time.

However, if two equals were put against one another in a fight to the death, I'd cast my vote on Pencak Silat or Muay Boran.

Mostly considering these styles were created during wartime to KILL. The fact that the Silat employs weapons might be considered 'cheating' though.

It's largely popular because of the marketting and cash-cow that it has become.

Judo, Daitu-ryu, San-su, Krav, and a style used by the KGB, were the effective styles that come to mind... and all are forms that are designed to brutally injure or kill your opponent.

Interestingly, only the traditional Japanese military forms teach self-control and restraint with demonstrating technique to 'outsiders' - vs Judo (Olympic competition), Brazilian JuiJitsuisiuuiuiii (crap), Karate (beaten dead, and resurected, only to be beaten some more) and other commercialized forms.

90% of the time if you get inside the grasp of a jiu jitsu practitioner, you're going to get something broke off.

I'd roll with traditional jujutsu, trained properly it covers all aspects of martial arts, striking, throws, ground work and weapons, a good chunk of martial arts are derived from jujutsu and are just more specialised aspects of it. Judo is mostly just the throwing, BJJ is pretty much just the ground fighting with a few basic take downs, iirc karate is a combination of jujutsu striking with chinese form striking, kendo is just the sword play of jujutsu etc etc.

a jujutsu practitioner who is well based in all these forms will probably struggle in a BJJ fight against a BJJ master, but would probably beat the BJJ master in striking and throwing etc.

plus jujutsu is one of the few martial arts that is just that,a martial art, most are competition forms, lots of dirty fighting is taught in jujutsu, while we obviously don't use it in competition, we are trained to eye gouge, groin strike, throat strike and all that other nasty stuff. Just last night we were covering the competition stuff the sensei had been teaching to the kids, but making it much more street effective by adding nasty strikes and grabs in throughout =D
