    I will not disagree with you that fire is in fact better on every fight, anyone who does has their head up their ass. What I am saying is that arcane is a viable option on every fight. Yes arcane suffers more from movement than the other two specs, but I have yet to have to move more than blink and one global will take me (as for garalon obviously you wouldn't play arcane if you are kiting) but barring special circumstances there is no fight with enough movement to constitute a significant enough loss in dps to call the spec "not viable"

    It's just a matter of perspective. I prefer to play what I want and I allow my guildies to play whatever they want. The only special note in that is that nobody is allowed to play something that will be a hindrance to the raid. And Arcane will never be a hindrance *when played by someone who knows what they are doing*. Obviously if I was a player that wants to maximize his output in any circumstance, I would play fire.

    damage increase from arcane charge value our mastery very high but also the mana cost effect will make haste very good on the other hand as well

    gemming could very well change into mastery>int

    The mana cost change should actually benefit Mastery more than Haste as it will allow us to stay at higher mana levels all the time. We'll see over the course of the next couple of days before I update anything in the guide

    [/COLOR]just tried Inovcation rotation. it feels like our old IW rotation but with invocation this time.

    yes it works but it does alot less dps than ROP

    but with no cd on ROP i dont see why picking invocation is even a choice (IW is better for very heavey movement fight)

    gemmed full mastery and it gave me apporx 4-5k dps increase than gemming pure int.

    i dont run simc but i have been dummy testing for last 2hours zzzzzzzzzz

    Actually tried full mastery rune of power tonight. Had a pretty good heroic Gara'jal, really like the feel and flow of this spec, really like how long we can stay at 6 stacks, like how much damage nether tempest multidotting does.     Also simcraft is telling me to gem 320 mastery in yellow, I suspect it's right.

    Hm, I'll be testing these new concepts today. I'll also run simcraft now and see what pops up.

    I give up on this bs, it's still giving me Haste as higher than Mastery with RoP. Currently 1.83 > 1.77. And neither of them are better than Intellect.

    Is there any way to set simcraft to "I don't want Haste above this level" ?

    In description invocations are written that Arcane Explosion with probability 30% generates a Arcane Charge. In fact the chance of generation of charge does not exceed 3%. Who to write what checked up a formula - as there are serious grounds to suppose that in it there are errors. All nothing - but absence of normal set the Charge cast of Arcane Explosion fully breaks the aoe rotary press of spec. Which in a theory must consist in the spam of explosion and upcast of Charge Arcane Barrage.

    Ok I haven't tested full mastery yet, but I did 10k dps more on Elegon without the raid mastery buff than last week with the buff. Would have ranked first on 10 normal if I actually remembered to start the logs

    I was, however, thinking about something else - removing Glyph of Arcane Power. Since we can now stay longer at 6 charges but still not too long, maybe it would be better to do it twice with AP within the 3 min period of the AT cooldown. Might try it tonight in LFR.

    is it just me or i miss shooting out more frequent arcane barrage at bosses face with 500k(or something)

    they should add another proc that have a chance to have arcane barrage free cast without reseting arcane charge but does damage at ur current arcane charge stack.

    Tbh I don't trust simcraft's stat values for any of the mage specs, it's like it undervalues mastery because it can't sim the style that peole play (lining up cds, alter timing at the right time, using pom efectively)
    So I flipped simcraft the bird and started stacking mastery over haste for both arcane and fire

    As far as I know simcraft hasn't even updated the changes to arcane that it got in 5.1.. So you couldnt sim for the stat weights atm regardless with simcraft.

    I just meant that in general I haven't trusted the simcraft values for mastery this expansion, they seem wonkey for all specs

    It's because of the dots (trying to push haste all the time towards the second breakpoint after 3050 or whatever) after which it starts pushing mastery as higher. However, it's also not using the proper rotation for us. Before 5.1 it might have even made sense but currently we play by staying at 6 charges as long as possible and I don't think that any sim is capable of modeling it.

    pre 5.1 my haste was at 3.4k and i was using Frost armor + spell haste buff was sitting on 21% haste roughly and it simmed me higher dps than using mage armor itself. which gave me 15ticks of NT (next LB tick is 37.5% lol so dont bother)

    would be interesting to see how this changed

    mmmm I need to update the guide with the "rotation" changes brought by 5.1... Still haven't even tested all of the capabilities, but what I saw for now is that the optimal "cycle" would be:

    Rune of Power
    Nether Tempest
    Blast x 6
    Nether Tempest
    Activate Macro (Power, use trinkets, profession use abilities, mana gem, alter time, Missiles)
    Missiles Again
    Blast x 1
    Barrage
    (Alter Time reactivates)
    Missiles x 2
    Nether Tempest
    Blast until you get Missiles (max 4 Blasts)
    Missiles
    Nether Tempest
    1-2 more Blasts as long as your mana doesn't go under 80-85%
    Missiles if you got any
    Barrage

    Seems like the stuff I went for when I tried out arcane and it was pretty nice, though I still am pretty meh about if the properly theorycraft arcane out.. I spent so much time on fire getting every single drop of performance out that doing that with arcane just to see it getting nerfed cause it will now be the most op patchwerk spec instead of fire.. So ye dunno wish someone would do all the work for me

    Thus, if I read correctly that last couple of posts, arcanes with rune is higher dps for now ? Has anyone tested with invocation ? (and... a little off topic but where's frost now ? I'm raiding tonight but can't decide between arcanes/frost, I was fire until today.

    Glyph of Mana Gem is such a brilliant glyph for Arcane. 'Lovin it!

    Edit: Has anyone done the maths on stat scalings for Arcane? I don't trust Simcraft at the moment as it's giving me really wonky numbers. Is haste better than mastery, or is it the other way around?
