because more space to work on, and we had 1080p as standard for quite some time. You'd think we moved on to 2K or 4K resolutions by now.

Well...if you read more into it you will see that those panels are not so easily made and they lose quite alot of what they manifacture due to errors in those panels so...we dont really have the technology yet for make super duper high resolution to nonfreakin prices.

edit: apart from the fact you only have a handful manifactures world wide anyways.

I'll rather get a 3rd screen and put my second smaller one in the kitchen.

well you get black space anyway, when watching movies, at least. Because they're wider than 16:9(like, 99% of movies are 21:9 ratio) and some anime(madoka has more than half scenes that are 21:9 but I think it's just for cinematic effect)

1440p is really the next step, almost the same % jump as 720->1080
