WW/Brewmaster question/issues

Hi all,
Looking for a bit of advice. I am a WW main spec with a BM off spec. I am starting heroics and for the most part will be DPSing, but once in a while tanking for the guild. The issue I am working on is gearing out. Right now I am working on hit/exp cap for WW spec, but in reading it seems like I am going to be doing the same thing for BM. So I guess what I am wondering is can I simply tank in my DPS spec?

if you gear up as WW you can tank in this gear aswell, yes. the only differents will be some gems/enchants. nothing more. but i guess it doesnt matters that much if you going for heroics.
