The launch of MoP had enough new content skillfully created for, to use a baseball analogy, the game to make it to first.

Now 5.1 is revealed, and MoP is going to make it to second.


Not only are there going to be more than just 1 new daily hub, but the "probably won't happen" VP upgrades are slated for addition, pet battles are being updated, and another whole-new feature is being added (brawl clubs).

At the rate Blizz keeps adding new content, MoP may well bring back the Vanilla days of near-constant new things to do.

Based on the preview they did on it a while back, it's sort of like reforging. You can upgrade anything higher than a certain itemlevel, probably anything from mists of pandaria.

You invest X valor points to improve the item level by Y levels, to a maximum of Z levels above the base item. I think in the preview it costed 250 valor to upgrade by 7 ilevels to a max of 14, but I'm sure those were example placeholder numbers.

It's possible that they'll make PvP gear unable to be upgraded (or maybe make them upgradeable with conquest points?) but given the many many ways you can generate valor points now, maybe they won't.

They already did. I have more things to do at 90 then I have ever had to do in the past 5 years of the game. With 5.1 they are adding even MORE things to do. WTF /hateblizz.

This is a really good start into a new expansion. Let's hope that Blizz is keeping up. 5.2 in 12/2012 oder 01/2013 would be great. Keep it up, Blizz!

Yes, I love it. Not every patch has to be some raid and dungeons. Vanilla had various content patches throughout with things like weather and holiday events.

5am don't need raids all the time when we have so much more at our fingertips now. Sure raids are epic but we don't need them yet.

Why? The slow patch progression was pretty much one of the biggest whining points in Cataclysm. By targeting this Blizzard is trying to respond. I will reserve my judgement on this for further ahead. As it is now, it may be that Blizzard is really boosting the development cycle. But it also can be that they simply got a lot of content ready and will just gate it for patches further ahead to prove that now they have lots of patches. Imagine Cataclysm with 4.0 Blackwing Descent, 1 month later 4.1 with Bastion of Twilight and then 4.2 with Alakir. Would be exactly same content as it was in reality in 4.0 but it would create an illusion that they are working a lot on constant updates. Whatever is the truth, Blizzard is acting smart at this moment. However I will wait and see how the updates will roll for the next year.
