Oh yeah, I'm not sure how I could forget. MM was such a sad game.

Totally forgot how the Snowfield, and the opening made me feel. I could not watch the opening till after i finished the afterstory, which i forced myself through. The snowfield is still really sad.

This is a pretty sad song, I love it though!

This song's lyrics makes my eyes tear up. It's not as good as the previous one though.

Every damn time I listen to this song I start crying. Vandross just poured his heart into it. So beautiful.

I try to stay away from these as there are no absolutes in art.

However.. On one side there's the indie slowcore stuff: The Antlers, Red House Painters, Low, Codeine, Great Lake Swimmers, Grand Archives, Carissa's Wierd [sic], Galaxie 500, Sun Kil Moon, etc. There's also the shoegaze and the dream pop: My Bloody Valentine, Beach House, M83, Blue Hawaii, Deerhunter, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Atlas Sound, The Radio Dept., Warpaint, Bear in Heaven, Young Prisms, etc.

You've also got the emotional hardcore, which traditionally people will consider to be depressing: Brand New, Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas is the Reason, The Republic of Wolves, Thrice.

Adding to this, there's even more lo-fi indie rock: Lost in the Trees, Kid Dakota, Pygmy Lush. Let's not forget the entire label Enemies List Home Recordings with Have a Nice Life, Giles Corey, Sleep In, Dweller on the Threshold, Planning for Burial, etc.

There's also a bunch of bands and people who released stuff people perceive as sad or depressing: Radiohead, Caribou, Xiu Xiu, The Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, The Who, Joy Division, Tim Buckley, The Beach Boys, Suicide, Leonard Cohen, The Smiths, Sparklehorse, The Black Swans, Neutral Milk Hotel, Lou Reed, Elliot Smith, The Cure, EELS, Swans.. you know, the list goes on.

I'm not going to bother posting a single song. It's all about perspective.

    (Warning: Hip hop)

I know a lot of people dislike hip hop but the song is incredibly depressing. Also makes you realize that something like that could be going on right at this second.

The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

I can't post links yet, but Space-dye vest (dream theater) is one of the most depressing I have heard.

Next would be Disappear, Repetance, Wither from the same band

I'd say this album tops the "sadness" list for me:

You can find the lyrics and translated samples on the internet. Powerful stuff about past regrets and insanity.

Honorable mention: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯ A♯ ∞

I don't listen to many sad songs, let alone ones that induce such a reaction you described above but I guess this one is pretty sad:

    Honestly, anything from Carissa's Wierd would do. As the top comment on that video states;
"Carissa's Wierd and I have a love/hate relationship. While I love their music, they make me want to drink bleach and then slit my throat."

    These two always get me.
