Content drought is a combination of catchup mechanics and no new content.
I loved Descent, but it has it's flaws for sure. The controls were rough if you didn't have a flight stick. I actually had a steering wheel that did pitch up or down by sliding the whole thing forward or out from a neutral position (I think it had a spring in it to return it to the home position when you pushed it either way), since it had sensors on the steering shaft and you had to fix the wheel to the desk with a couple of threaded clamps. It was a lot of fun, but hard as all hell to pitch up and down effectively with that control configuration.
It's so funny how rsi constantly manipulates backers to "choose" options that allow them to delay actual development again.
Throw some hype at the crowd and let stupidity do the rest, right?
I think it's more funny that some people try to come up with moronic conspiracy theories as the evil CIG manipulates the 100% moronic backer base.
3.0 is "really early Alpha."
And as part of that fanbase, I won't be surprised if they release 3.0 to the live servers this month, even if what I've been reading leads me to believe that it needs to be on PTU longer (just as I believe they released to PTU early). While it is a good opportunity for them to get a very large number of players playing, as people tend to take some time off of work towards the end of the year, I think that if there are too many gameplay-stopping bugs people will end up being frustrated, even though they really, really, really want to play it. Is 3.0 "hype"? Not really. It's a pretty large milestone for development and for the game as a whole (persistence, actual gameplay loops, celestial bodies, item 2.0), but I think the real reason people are hyped is that we'll be seeing the first new build in well over a year. 3.0 has taken faaaar too long to release because they tried adding in too many large features at once. That said, nobody I personally know that is following the game or is a backer is making this any more than it is, an update. Granted, 3.0, as listed, should move the game from "tech demo" to "this is now a game that is in alpha".
Five years to move into an alpha state. What the actual fuck? Do we have any realistic hope of seeing Beta before 2020?
But... It's so immersive and pretty.

Same argument the 1000th time...
5 years to move the most technically complex MMO to alpha, while building up tge whole company and studios around....while established studios spend 3-4-5 years on single player games.

Yaay you managed to dig up a video where someone runs it on a potato with problems...here's a cookie, now run and like the other several thousand videos where people have fun in 3.0 with normal frame rates.
Oh that wouldn't suit your agenda...bad luck...back to ignore with you
Edit: NVM i was told whose twitter feed featured the video to try to drag SC down. At least we know where you gather information. LOL

Imo, anyone who hasn't pledged in this game should wait for SQ42 release.
It wouldn't be wise to expect a MMO relese from a company who can't even release a single player game.
Also, some ship prices are cheaper than before so better keep waiting and see.
I think everyone who is not pledging with the purpose of helping the development because they like the scope should wait. Or try it at a free fly weekend than decide.
Spending money on it with the intent of getting an almost ready game will lead to disappointment.
On the topic of "can't even release a single player game"...the two games share basic functions, so until all those set in stone theres no point releasing the SP one. There is connection between the two, and it would look stupid if you finish the SP one, and after transferring to the MMO ships would look and feel different, mechanics work differently, etc.
Sensitive much? Seems like I really struck a cord with that one.
Victim blaming at its finest as well. Can't possibly be that 3.0 is heavily unoptimized now can it? Like it or not, that is a players' (and others) legit gameplay experiences when they could run the game just fine before.
Lastly, it doesn't matter where certain videos end up being posted. It doesn't de-legitimize the video just because a guy you don't like ends puts it on his Twitter feed after x amount of time.
You just can't handle the objective facts in this matter. It hurts too much.
P.s: Oh noes. A guy on the interwebz decided to ignore me for posting a legit video. That says more about you than it does me.
I look at the people who still support this studio, even after all the shit they've pulled, including the latest "land acquisition" deal, as victims. But the sort of victims who stubbornly stay in a place even after a mandatory evacuation has been ordered because of a tornado or fire. They deserve what's coming to them.
Chris Roberts knew both games share resources while showing us the trailer with the release date 2016. Now its nearly 2018 and he still can't say game is ready.
We will see on 21st what happens.
Till then CIG will be a company "can't even release a single player game but trying to make a MMO".
We will see what happens afterwards
I have a gtx780TI + i7 4790k in my computer and the PTU still chugs pretty heavily on the lowest graphics settings they've available at this point. Should be equal to a mid range card of around a 1060 or a 970 somewhere. Not as bad as in the video above, but not anywhere near good.
Anyone convincing themselves the PTU is in a state without severe performance drops is deluding themselves. The reasonable argument to make here is rather that it is a development build far from live release to explain it being like that, rather than acting like performance drops don't exist.
I have 25-30 FPS usually maybe some drops here and there.
The point is Majestic only wanted to shitpost, and paint it like that is the performance people see.
I never heard anyone lagging like this in 3.0 and have loads of friends on the PTU.
You can set your game to very high even it will be the same FPS range, it is netcode limited.
So you're calling the video fake now. And deny that people don't in fact see that kind of performance.
Sorry but you're just wrong. What you see is the exact experience some players get. Nobody cares about your personal experience, it's anecdotal. You can't use that to dismiss what other people report and post.
You will really say and do anything to pretend it is flawless.
He never said it was flawless. You're strawmanning that.
But you also can't ignore the posts and videos of people that aren't having those 1 fps problems (I have seen maybe half a dozen posts on reddit mentioning the 1 fps thing).
But you should also look up whats causing the problem instead of acting all high and mighty while only posting other people's videos. ATM, there is a memory problem that's causing a majority of the 1 fps things that I have read.
You will really say and do anything to pretend that the everything is broken for everyone.
Note: 20-30 fps is exactly what most people are reporting. Just because you're too lazy to look at the videos/reports doesn't change that. Some people getting 1 fps doesn't change that either.
