3.0 is "really early Alpha."![]()
And as part of that fanbase, I won't be surprised if they release 3.0 to the live servers this month, even if what I've been reading leads me to believe that it needs to be on PTU longer (just as I believe they released to PTU early). While it is a good opportunity for them to get a very large number of players playing, as people tend to take some time off of work towards the end of the year, I think that if there are too many gameplay-stopping bugs people will end up being frustrated, even though they really, really, really want to play it. Is 3.0 "hype"? Not really. It's a pretty large milestone for development and for the game as a whole (persistence, actual gameplay loops, celestial bodies, item 2.0), but I think the real reason people are hyped is that we'll be seeing the first new build in well over a year. 3.0 has taken faaaar too long to release because they tried adding in too many large features at once. That said, nobody I personally know that is following the game or is a backer is making this any more than it is, an update. Granted, 3.0, as listed, should move the game from "tech demo" to "this is now a game that is in alpha".

Five years to move into an alpha state. What the actual fuck? Do we have any realistic hope of seeing Beta before 2020?
But... It's so immersive and pretty.

Same argument the 1000th time...
5 years to move the most technically complex MMO to alpha, while building up tge whole company and studios around....while established studios spend 3-4-5 years on single player games.

Yaay you managed to dig up a video where someone runs it on a potato with problems...here's a cookie, now run and like the other several thousand videos where people have fun in 3.0 with normal frame rates.
Oh that wouldn't suit your agenda...bad luck...back to ignore with you
Edit: NVM i was told whose twitter feed featured the video to try to drag SC down. At least we know where you gather information. LOL

Imo, anyone who hasn't pledged in this game should wait for SQ42 release.
It wouldn't be wise to expect a MMO relese from a company who can't even release a single player game.
Also, some ship prices are cheaper than before so better keep waiting and see.

I think everyone who is not pledging with the purpose of helping the development because they like the scope should wait. Or try it at a free fly weekend than decide.
Spending money on it with the intent of getting an almost ready game will lead to disappointment.
On the topic of "can't even release a single player game"...the two games share basic functions, so until all those set in stone theres no point releasing the SP one. There is connection between the two, and it would look stupid if you finish the SP one, and after transferring to the MMO ships would look and feel different, mechanics work differently, etc.
Sensitive much? Seems like I really struck a cord with that one.
Victim blaming at its finest as well. Can't possibly be that 3.0 is heavily unoptimized now can it? Like it or not, that is a players' (and others) legit gameplay experiences when they could run the game just fine before.
Lastly, it doesn't matter where certain videos end up being posted. It doesn't de-legitimize the video just because a guy you don't like ends puts it on his Twitter feed after x amount of time.
You just can't handle the objective facts in this matter. It hurts too much.
P.s: Oh noes. A guy on the interwebz decided to ignore me for posting a legit video. That says more about you than it does me.
I look at the people who still support this studio, even after all the shit they've pulled, including the latest "land acquisition" deal, as victims. But the sort of victims who stubbornly stay in a place even after a mandatory evacuation has been ordered because of a tornado or fire. They deserve what's coming to them.
Chris Roberts knew both games share resources while showing us the trailer with the release date 2016. Now its nearly 2018 and he still can't say game is ready.
We will see on 21st what happens.
Till then CIG will be a company "can't even release a single player game but trying to make a MMO".
We will see what happens afterwards![]()
I have a gtx780TI + i7 4790k in my computer and the PTU still chugs pretty heavily on the lowest graphics settings they've available at this point. Should be equal to a mid range card of around a 1060 or a 970 somewhere. Not as bad as in the video above, but not anywhere near good.
Anyone convincing themselves the PTU is in a state without severe performance drops is deluding themselves. The reasonable argument to make here is rather that it is a development build far from live release to explain it being like that, rather than acting like performance drops don't exist.

I have 25-30 FPS usually maybe some drops here and there.
The point is Majestic only wanted to shitpost, and paint it like that is the performance people see.
I never heard anyone lagging like this in 3.0 and have loads of friends on the PTU.
You can set your game to very high even it will be the same FPS range, it is netcode limited.
So you're calling the video fake now. And deny that people don't in fact see that kind of performance.
Sorry but you're just wrong. What you see is the exact experience some players get. Nobody cares about your personal experience, it's anecdotal. You can't use that to dismiss what other people report and post.
You will really say and do anything to pretend it is flawless.
He never said it was flawless. You're strawmanning that.
But you also can't ignore the posts and videos of people that aren't having those 1 fps problems (I have seen maybe half a dozen posts on reddit mentioning the 1 fps thing).
But you should also look up whats causing the problem instead of acting all high and mighty while only posting other people's videos. ATM, there is a memory problem that's causing a majority of the 1 fps things that I have read.
You will really say and do anything to pretend that the everything is broken for everyone.
Note: 20-30 fps is exactly what most people are reporting. Just because you're too lazy to look at the videos/reports doesn't change that. Some people getting 1 fps doesn't change that either.

You still buy those excuses?
CIG was already larger than some established development teams when Kickstarter launched. Not only that, but building up a team and managing people is something EVERY team has to do.
Nor should hiring staff have ANY impact on development because 1...developers shouldn't be doing it and 2...it should already be factored into the timetables.
Arguing that "building up the company" excuses them is arguing that you KNOW they are incompetents but don't want to hold it against them.
Your so-called established studios are often smaller and have less funding while still managing to pump out great games and even the mega studios such as Blizzard still require teams to be built up and managed.
Any manager who offers the excuse of "needing to build a team" as a reason for delay should be fired because, at best, it speaks of gross incompetence somewhere in the system.
As for moving the MMO. to Alpha....it isn't there yet. There is NO Alpha build. CIG are still working on the game engine. The AI engine just went in, the physics engine is still dodgy, we can't tell how well the animation engine is running because of the frame rate problems but most tellingly, the games netcode isn't in the game yet and CIGs own devs just a few weeks back admitted server meshing hadn't even been started.
That isn't an Alpha build being tested. It's a pre Alpha
Nor is the "most technically complex" MMO adding anything that is especially challenging. There's nothing new, the vast majority of the content will be procedurally generated, the graphical quality is variable but even at its best it is simply an evolution of a decades old trend...newer games get better graphics because the hardware is more capable...and many of the games mechanics are bare sketches right now and appear awful and ill thought out.
Then we see games such as Dual Universe.
50 employees or so...Novaquark formed in 2014... €500k froma Kickstarter...
And look at what they have released and done in that time frame.
Yeah...some people get decent frame rates. And it often appears to be because they hacked an offline mode or don't have a lot of people doing stuff on the server.Yaay you managed to dig up a video where someone runs it on a potato with problems...here's a cookie, now run and like the other several thousand videos where people have fun in 3.0 with normal frame rates.
Oh that wouldn't suit your agenda...bad luck...back to ignore with you
Which is more representative of reality?
Sure Horus, people are enjoying the game. I didn't reply to videos of that though saying it was fake and say it didn't represent what people were experiencing. He's specifically doing that though to my video. That's the difference. He absolutely is claiming it is flawless by denying that the poor experiences even exist.
Not once did I say or hint that the video I posted was the game being broken to everybody. You're strawmanning that. :]
You're being defensive at this point just like Mali. All of this boils down to certain people in this thread just being unable to look at a video and say "Ok, sucks for that guy." and move on. They have to pause, attack and try to discredit the entire video, the person who posted it and even mention a twitter feed where the video ended up after x amount of time. It's grasping at straws.
Just take a step back and accept the negative experience videos just as I accept your "porno" videos and people having fun. If you did that there'd be no issue whatsoever.

What he said wasn't anecdotal at all if you did any research, that was my point that you failed to understand. He even had a video linked recently of himself playing with that framerate (also showing the CPU spiking bug). Where at all did I mention that I didn't accept those poor fps videos? I flat out told you what's causing it, meaning I know exactly what you're referring to and acknowledging its existence.
But this is another one of your problems. Anytime anyone calls you out on your bullshit, you say they're "getting defensive". You're trying to stop discussions. It is not productive whatsoever. Just because I choose to use coarse language does not imply I'm defensive. It does however mean that I have less respect for you than others in here.
Have a nice holiday.

There is no bullshit, Horus. Mali is one of the extremists in this thread and you're an extremist sympathizer. That's why you're defending him. It's very simple.
A discussion at the end of the day should be constructive. I made my point and all I got in return was "omg FAKE! IGNORED!!". So much for "stopping a discussion" eh, from your camp? But I don't see you calling them out. Like I said, you're a sympathizer.
P.s: Would love to have seen what the deleted post said.
Anyway, peace out.
