20k players can play star citizen at the same time, its irrelevant that they are not all on the same server, its just fact directly from a lead developer, so dont talk BS just like all the others.



Yeah sitting in one spot while watching tv shows and movies is not really interesting, eve requires very little attention just target a ship blow it up and repeat, some may enjoy mindless gameplay but i prefer something a little more involved most of the time.

Size of the battles dont really matter as long as it is actually engaging content, a small 100-200 ship battle can feel much more epic if done correctly rather than thousands of ships doing very little.

Every game can handle an infinite amount of players, so long as you spread them out over enough servers with enough hardware. Its an entirely pointless statistic.

I'm not here to tell anybody what to like or not like. I'm glad you like the game. Twitch viewership does not equate game quality, unfortunately. Correlation =/= causation and all that. You're a smart guy. I'm sure you knew that before you posted.

If you look carefully you can also see the amount of people playing Star Citizen in the Twitch platform. It's the "Streamers" stat. For example, NMS has had more streamers but they play for less time so get less "watched hours" and "viewers".

And if you compare overall twitch viewership/streamers = engagement of the top games in each genre it usually amounts to the "most popular" games too, that's not coincidence.

All those games are on top because they are offering some kind of gameplay that the majority of the gamers from that genre enjoy that makes them converge on it.

Star Citizen Alpha is no exception.

Yeah but it's the same with Minecraft, for whatever reasons people like to watch other people play Star Citizen. I see that with many Streamers that once played some SC where the Chat is always going "when are you going to play SC again?" over and over.
Not sure if the chat people are actually playing themselves though...

It's a high profile game with a high number of question marks attached to it. I'm not surprised people watch it. Your entire schpeel can be summed up with another correlation =/= causation tag. People streaming / watching a game has next to nothing to do with the quality of that game.

Once again, you can't make it through an entire post without being insulting and fabricating words to put in someone's mouth, though, so at least you're consistent.

It arguably is an exception. Nearly all the games listed above are top of their respective genre in player popularity. Star Citizen is not, having approximately 8% of EVE Online's concurrency.
The statistics look suspiciously artificial for Star Citizen.

Or they're all 5+ year old games that are feature complete and don't get regular updates anymore. Unlike SC which is updated regularly with new "content" but still falls behind categories such as: Virtual Casino and Roblox. It couldn't even beat out 9 year old game Dark Souls. Says a lot about the games popularity doesn't it?

Its a space game, space games have a niche community as it is so obviously ppl who dont like space games will play/watch other things, popularity on ppl watching games on twitch doesnt mean a thing anyway.

I can decide whatever i want but i never said anything about twitchs worth, i just stated one of its reasons to exist is to gather up all the gamers to view certain game channels or girls showing of cleavage, when they either cant be bothered playing a game at the current time or playing ones that dont require as much input, a good portion of the time the game on the twitch channel doesnt even matter.

Oh! Well if it already exists then why isn't it in the game? Think of how better the game would be if the server caps were lifted. I mean since it already exists it should be in the next build right? And this game sounds way better then SC I wonder why you never talk about it. Since it's doing everything SC is but is much further along in half the time.

If only you even understood even a fraction of what development actually takes, server meshing is just one component out of many that requires many different things to be already implemented first and a combination of all those systems will expand how many players are able to be active on a server or in an area of the game.

Dual universe is ok buts its mainly an industry game/ building game with some travel between planets if you want for resources, so its not doing what SC is doing it has its own gameplay.
