Are the horde destined to lose?

Pretty much every story must have a protagonist and an antagonist, and this game is no different. However, in the good guy always wins story arc the protagonist is supposed to beat his opponent. I see these battle lines being drawn as the "good guy" alliance and the "bad guy" horde. So if blizzard adheres to the accepted format the horde should lose because they are the "bad guys," but is that really fair? Or should we just accept the likelihood that the hero will triumph over evil.

I know perspective might suggest the alliance are bad, horde are good depending on which side you play but in reality the monsters are the horde and the good guy humans are the alliance.

I'd say the real losers are browsing a World of Warcraft site when they stopped playing.

The leader is the representative. That's why we hold elections so 1 person can represent all the others.

Warcraft hasn't been black and white like that since Warcraft II. It's more about shades of gray than the Paladin in a shining armor vanquishing the completely evil monster at the end. If that's the kind of story you want, then Warcraft isn't the game you're looking for.

I'd say the space goats are the most peaceful. They just wanted to be left alone and were forced to go to war.

So if Varian was to die tomorrow the alliance would split apart?

To answer, No, the horde will not lose because, if you see the notes on coming events, the horde stand against there corrupt leader and help to bring him down.

Honestly, do you really think the alliance will beat the horde, in a game like wow, in an mmorpg that has millions of players who play horde and play alongside friends and guildies alike?

The Horde are definitely destined to lose, just look at Warcraft 1 & 2, Horde dominates at the beginning, faces massive internal strife, and then falls apart after being defeated in a few key battles.

We're seeing the same thing happen in WoW, we're at stage 2, part of stage 3 will possibly happen in MoP, they'll either fall apart of there will be some kind of huge restructuring with Thrall returning.

OP, your ignoring the bad things the alliance is doing, just because Garrosh is down to be the bad guy, doesn't excuse the alliances actions in any of this.

the horde and alliance are neither good nor bad in relation to each other.

they are not two sides of a coin, rather, two ends of a dollar bill perhaps. the horde is not out to destroy the world, even Garrosh despite how he's becoming corrupted, is not out to destroy Azeroth, he is only out to kill the Alliance and bring pride to his people as well as life. He wants to protect them and all that. The alliance are the same way with their people, they wish to protect their people and the horde are simply their enemies.

But from an objective standpoint neither one is "evil" or "good" when compared to the other. They are both "good" when compared to say the burning legion or the lich king.

Dont worry even when horde kills Garrosh, Blizzard will make some bullshit or whatever where horde will come all glorious and stuff like they always do.

  16. #16
The horde will win stormwind will be razed to the ground and every gnome will be punted into the maelstrom

but seriously no side is gonna truly win which is a shame i sometimes do wish wow went back to its RTS roots where you had two cds one human and one orc campaign one cd where the orcs win and the other cd where the humans win even though the human side is considered canon

The two factions will continue to flux from one faction winning territory to the other faction winning territory etc

no side will ever truly conquer the other it will always be in a state of cold war uneasy peace and the reason for that is because of PVP

    Absolutely the Horde will lose.

Don't we get to raid Orgrimmar and kill its leader, in a PvE setting, in the last patch? Since Garrosh is the leader of the Horde, they're destined to lose.

Yes, the protagonist beats the antagonist in video games (usually). This'll ultimately happen in Warcraft as well, but the horde has not been the antagonist since the start of Warcraft 3, despite the fact it sometimes seems to be. Old gods and the burning legion (and whatever else might pop up) are the antagonist, horde and alliance are both protagonists at this point.

Hence your poll is missing an option, "Both will win"

The past tense is important there. It depends whether the Horde keeps its gains and territories after MoP, which seems rather likely given their "we have no plans to update the world again" attitude.

I mean, everyone wants Garrosh gone, from Trassk to Lor'themar Theron. I'm assuming the Horde turns against him so as to not join him in his fate.
