In a meeting last week it was decided that reworking the quests was not doable for a sane amount of money, so it came down to shutting down CRZ in multiple zones for the weekend, or discontinuing the tournaments, and CRZ won.
That's what a little bird told me.
(There will be a CRZ-safe Anglers tournament later on.)

It turned out to be hard to re-quest the tournaments into a single zone without trivializing them, plus, syncing the tournament zone to the player's home realm/calendar wasn't working anyway. Originally Posted by Bjarne

You cannot in fact get to best friends with Nat in 2 weeks, even if you fished 24/7. Originally Posted by jd812
You get exalted (or best friend, whatever) by handing in rare fish at 350 a piece I believe. There are 3 different fish and they're all unique. And the quest is a daily.
45000 rep (From neutral to exalted) / 1050 (Total rep possible per day) = 42.8 days of handing in all 3 fish.
