A lot of people complain that today the national government reaches too far on some issues. The country is split on healthcare: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_1...-care-mandate/, income tax: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/19/bu...ax-debate.html, and many other issues. Ron Paul seems to just want these issues to be relegated to the states which was probably the assumption when the constitution was made.
Again I don't know if I'm for Ron Paul's ideas because they do leave a lot of questions. But I think they're far from unrealistic. Why is a state income tax less realistic than a national income tax? Why is state mandated healthcare less realistic than national mandated healthcare?
If you think that the fate of the world's largest economy has not even the "slightest" effect on your country, then you are deluded about the extent of global interconnectedness and codependency.
Assuming you aren't from like, the centre of the Sahara or something like that.
You are aware they are your biggest trading partner right? If the USA fails it will hurt your wallet real bad.

Not to mention the knock-on effect on 3 (Germany, Japan, China) of the next 4 top export markets.

No it isn't. Your deleted post says you're from South Africa. The collapse of the global economy following the US's fall will devastate your country's economy.
this 50/50 for obama/romney scares the shit out of me. i think americans can be easily manipulated, because of the predecision of 2 candidates.
if there were lets say 3 rep and 3democrats neither obama nor romney would win an election. they are some kind of polarised stereotypes. its a system-thing.
romney would never dare to speak out in europe for example, no serious party would let him be a candidate.
the really scary thing is, that despite romney beeing a real dumbass in public concernes (hes just not good at rethorics and such things) really speaking out everything some extremist rep would think, despite all that romney actually finds FOLLOWERS in this damn country of fundamentalist christs. and this really scares europe and myself.
i think there were better candidates than romney AND obama. yet they are the canditates for choice and by some reason both find followers.
Let me ask you a question Himora, what did you think caused that dip in 2009 here?

If you are too rich too care/lives like a hermit/whatever then it might all be the same to you. But it will have a major impact on your country.
Most Americans are ignorant sheep who do little research about the Candidates they vote for and tend to believe the Propaganda portrayed by the televised media and the political campaigns themselves.
Not only that but sadly many Americans political values tend to be hereditary aka that's the party my daddy voted for so that's who I vote for.
Combine that with the fact most Americans have been brainwashed into believing voting 3rd party is throwing your vote away, and our Election system becomes a complete joke.
As someone from outside American, I don't hate Romney or any republican, far from that. I just think "Wow, this guy doesn't look honest. How can Americans let him decide for their country?"
