It is tragic that so many people lost their jobs, but I'm thinking this is in anticipation of the wars winding down. If defense spending is being cut, then defense jobs will be cut.

Markets come and go, people always need to move from one job to another based on the need for that job. Do you expect the same amount of people to have jobs in defense, as Koraak said, when the wars are winding down?

Between sequestration, Obamacare making employers cut back hours/fire people and soon to be higher taxes, makes me less than optimistic that this time next year we will have lower unemployment.

Most of the defence jobs shouldn't have been created in the first place, however ignoring that part it should have been expected since their are no more American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan is also about the end.

Fact is the US defence spending has to be less since you don't have something really expensive as war.

And honestly how long do people think the golden years of the defence industry should last anyway.

The amount of money the military-industrial complex inhales is highly disproportionate to the amount of labor it generates.

    We have a winner folks.

This is not a terrible loss for anyone who doesn't think war is something to profit from.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.

    Just, be kind.

True, but that also goes for the tax revenue of the country and the insane amounts of money that is spent on entitlements cost. We bring in enough money to run the government, but we are way, way short of being able to pay for entitlements, they need to be reformed.

With the sequestration in defense thats on the table for 2013, why is this news? Winding down wars = winding down defense contractors.

Why wouldn't they? There's no Aerial war right now.

I'm sorry your first thread attracted no real interest, but that's not much reason to repost it.

Maybe try actually framing your argument. Try stringing some thoughts together instead of losing steam after a couple of words.

Except that the article you linked states that this has nothing to do with the election results, and if you look back a little further you'll see it's part of an ongoing plan which dates back two years.
