WoW Graphics: Have been Weighed, Measured, and Found Wanting..

I don't play wow for graphics... Don't really care...

I rather have stuff as it is right now, than having my raids messed up just because ppls PCs can't handle awesome graphics...
I rather they spend time improving content than getting a new engine and making all that already exists work with the new engine...


So, no I don't think it needs new graphics...
If graphics were on my top of priorities for things in a game, I'd still be playing GWs2... But I'm not...




Plus you purposely chose some bad and very old low resolution screenshots... I'm sure I can make some "visually stunning" screenshots of WoW too... I'm also sure I can make some bad screenshots of GWs/swotor if I want to...

WoW came out eight years ago. The technology has improved incrementally, but the core engine is, yes, still the same.

Fortunately, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. For me, the quality of the art design is more than sufficient to carry the aging tech.

But WoW's art direction and animation quality are superb...not to mention that first pic is in a hallway and the second one is in a bland looking canyon.

Sure WoW needs an update graphically...but it's far from bad. It is, after all, an 8 year old game.

Those screenshots that are taken are at least 4 years old, Hunters have not had mana since Cata, and that Hunters mark looks like it did in Vanilla. So you are comparing a screenshot of Vanilla/BC wow to Modern Day MMO's.

Also, you chose practically one of the 1st PR screenshots from World of Warcraft ever plus a zone of a freaking desert, also from the launch era.

Campare any of the MoP, or even Wrath zones.

Not to mention, yeah, those games don't look that good when you're actually playing them. Dynamic screenshots don't accurate portray how a game looks and feels with when you're stuck behind your character's ass 95% of the time.

50% of the reason I play WoW is because of the cartoonish Graphics.

I fucking hate the Real Life/Cinematic Graphics from other MMOs.

They're a turn off.

That's probably why I lasted 5 months in SWTOR vs 1 weeks in GW2.

SWTOR has Cartoonish AND realistic graphics, while GW2's graphics are just..stupid.

I can't get into GW2's visuals, sadly. I love the artistic style of the interface, menus, maps, etc..., but the in-game graphics don't seem quite as stylish as some of the regions in GW1 did.
