What would you guys recommend as the CC order for this boss? Here's our roster (in case that matters):
Tanks: bear/warrior
Healers: druid/shammy/priest
Dps: 2 dks, priest, mage, rogue
Also, would you 2 or 3 heal this?
Thanks!
We cc 2 blade masters and 2 trappers at the pull and nuke menders really hard, then when menders go down all we re-apply is 1 blade master cc and nuke the 3 amber trappers that are up then. When amber trappers go down its just a matter of getting blade masters down who are already on 20-30% hp from cleave damage. We use 2 healers for this and barely made enrage on the first kill (which was the day after release).
We have been 2 healing it. We do something along the lines of Jukola. We CC 2 blade masters, and 2 trappers. We put a dispeller and an interrupter on each mender and interrupt their heal and dispel their quickening. We also have a shadow priest using mass dispel on CD to help get quickening off of the boss and other mobs. Once the menders die, we let out 1 blade master and 1 trapper. At this point we kill the blade masters but it is important to dispel the quickening that has built up on the CCed BM and trapper that you let out as they will pretty much murder your tanks or the first person they charge if they have 8+ stacks. Kill the blade masters, and then kill the trapper last. Last phase you pretty much just move the boss around in a circle so you don't run out of room to drop the wind traps.
We 3 heal this encounter
Rdruid
Rshaman
MW Monk
And CC is
Mender x2
Trapper x1
Blade master x1
2nd time around we CC
1x Trapper
1x Mender
Kill order being
Blade master > Mender > Trapper

We do:
First round: CC 2xMenders, 1xBlade, 1xAmber
Second Round: CC 1xBlade, 1xAmber
Kill Menders > Blade > Amber
The reasoning is we just want to make sure there is only 2 blade masters up at any given time. That means you don't wanna kill them last since all 3 will be out, and you don't wanna kill them first since they don't pose any threat with only 2 out.
Then we chose to kill menders first because I don't feel like mass dispelling the buff off for too long and our melee are noobs at interrupting.
You can do this pretty much any way you want. You just can't have 3 Blade out or more Menders than you have ints.
We do 2x Blade, 2x Mender; then 2x Blade (I think...).
Kill order: Trappers, Blade, Mender.
trap: 1 mender (have two interrupts on the other ones); 2 trapper; 1 blademaster.
Everyone makes autoswings on the trapper and aoe everything so that they all die in like 10s of one another.
Two heal is enough. SPriest has to mass dispel.
On 25m, we CC'd 1 Amber Trapper and 1 Blademaster, rest bunched up and AOE LOL while 1 tanking it. We killed the Amber trappers first and then proceeded to AoE down the others while still keeping 1 Amber and 1 Blade CC'd(since you know, 3 blademaster charges = dead player). JUST make sure you finish off Blademasters and Amber trappers at the same time and also not during a Rain of Blades since you might not be positioned correctly.
CC 2 menders and one of the other type. AOE everything while focusing mender left, make sure he dies just before the others, then CC the same targets.
We 3 healed, but with a monk and disc priest, so we were doing damage in phase 1 because there is nothing to heal. 1 tank only.
We CC'ed the 2 amber shapers, and left the rest of the mobs up and in a giant pile of AoE. We put an interrupter on each of the 3 menders, and had an enhance shaman spam purging when Quickening went down.
We didn't really focus one kind of mob, we take both of the 3-packs down at the same time, ideally they die near the same time which delays the boss getting 2 stacks of his damage buff and making his Raining Blades more painful until we were about to be done w. the AOE part of the fight.
This was our first kill. We ran 2 tanks (pally/DK), 2 heals (paladin/monk), 6 DPS (warrior/2xferal/dk/enhance/mage). The healing in P2 is a complete joke, we had both healers die about half way through P2, we brez'ed the pally who kept up the tank, we used feral tranqs to cover raining blades for the rest of the encounter.
We go,
2 amber 1 blade 1 mender,
1tank 2 heal,
get everything close to death at the same time, ambershaper can die before the other 4 without fucking with the CC,
Kill menders before blade,
kill blades
all within 10 secs of each other. Doesnt take more than 1.5-2 mins to get to that part, and then the hard part of the fights over. If there really was one.
Hmmm so many different combos for cc! Guess ill put ours in as we'll lol. We 3 healed it and kept one of each type cc'd. We focused on the menders and making sure they were interrupted and just aoe-d the crap out of everything. Only thing that was getting us killed was some healing issues in P2 but was a pretty simple kill tbh.
3 heal, 1 tank all day. No need for 2 tanks. I did a quick video with narration that goes through our CC and some tips to avoid some of the stupid wipes we did. Hope it helps. Go get em!
We CC 2 Mender - 1 Blade - 1 Amber & AOE them all down so they die about the same time (we make sure Menders die first thou)
We run 1 Tank - 3 Healer - 6 Dps
FWIW on our 25man kills we also just CC 2 of the Amber Trappers. 3xBlademasters aren't really a problem since there is a debuff that goes out right before they strike, and we just have a priest or pally put a small shield on the target or sac them. Like you, we preferred only CCing 2 mobs ever since it means more adds in the AOE and things died faster that way overall.
We usually cc 1 of each and just AoE everythng down in no particular order. Doesn't really seem to add any difficulty to the fight. Might even be quicker to just not cc and shield the target of the charges. There's fuck all really to do other than AoE.
