Man of science or man of faith?

Are you a man of science or man of faith?

  2. #2
Why can't you be both? Science concerns the understanding of this world and faith concerns that which follows.

I have faith in science. I know it works, but since I am eons away from understanding the shit, I have to have faith in it.

On a more direct note, I stick to science, but I have a very healthy respect for the benefits faith can have.

You, sir, are confusing faith with religion.

OT: I am both. I have faith in a greater design for all things which isn't perceptible, and science helps us to understand all of that better.

Ironic, you have faith in your own statement.

But faith has many meanings, of which the one that covers them all is the synonym "trust." Therefore one can have faith and be a man of science. Some people have faith in their self, others have their faith elsewhere.

The afterlife, the lack thereof, or whatever else you choose to believe. Those are matters of faith.

Faith probaly means some sort of religion/belief in a god here.
I have faith in science but not in a god.

Science flies us to the moon, faith flies us into buildings.

I guess he means like the stuff that science can´t figure out, or won´t figure out by the time he is dead anyways. If that´s what he means, I feel the same way.

I believe even if science discovers how the universe came to be, there would have to be a reason behind that, and if science discovers it, there would probably be another reason behind that reason o_o or some shit like that...

Also, I hate the idea of thinking that when people die nothing happens, so I do believe that there has to be something after death.

(Excuse me if i didnt express myself very well xD english isnt my native language)

Science is about how the world is. Faith is about how the world is supposed to be. (bluntly said, it will probably not be entirely true in every aspect)
