I won't even bother SWTOR because the "f2p" model makes it that you might as well sub to actually enjoy the game. You're gonna end up subbing anyway once you get to max level unless you just like leveling and seeing the storyline twice.

Was gonna try it out and see what changed. Login to my preffered account, then logged out again. Way too many restriction.

I believe that is the intention of the F2P model. Its to get people to try it out or do story arcs they still wanted to experience with hopes of drawing them back in. Its not a botched plan, because when I log in I see Heavy and Full servers and nothing less. Most starting zones are filled to the brim with people who haven't tried SWTOR before (General Chat makes it highly apparent). Whether they have good or bad experiences doesn't matter- its still bringing people in to try the game which wasn't happening before F2P was implemented.

Nope, I can't be bothered with TOR anymore.
Why am I back here, I don't even play these games anymore

The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.

Nope, was going to play when it went F2P, but there simply isn't enough to get me interested in the game again.

Also I was reading another thread, and apparently they're charging for extra actions bars or something? That just really seems strange and in my opinion they're taking the wrong approach to F2P, I forsee this as a last ditch effort to get as much money as they can before 'you know what' happens....

i thought about going back giving it a whirl while it's f2p but honestly i think it would be a waste of time for me to even think about it due to all the restrictions in place. it would feel like trying to race in the indy 500 in a wooden cart without a horse and in my opinion in the state the game is in the montly fee of 14.99 is just not worth it.

I logged in and I see they expect cartel coins for things that were free before so even if subscribed you'd have to use cartel coins to like, re-unlock things like matching colors on armor and shit

Also, according to their chart I was SUPPOSED to get like 2,000 coins.... I only got 100

I looked at the gear vendors and its more of the same in recolors

Also I am enjoying WoW atm, so overall I'm like.... man.... forget SWTOR

I'm gonna try to just stick with WoW and console games (Madden 13, WWE13, GTA V, etc) untill The Elder Scrolls Online comes out really, I have no intention of returning to SWTOR in any capacity, especially after the slap in the face of basically being robbed of coins I was supposed to get, and seeing how ridiculous the things you buy with them are...

Tried it, but that decision made everything far worse as it was before. EA is a stupid company and nothing for great games anymore, they just destroy everything

You get access to those coins if you resubscribe. The 100 coins I believe is for your authenticator? Its late so I could be wrong. I guess the game isn't for everyone, but try coming back in about 6-8 months and see how its changed! I'm used to games starting out on the poor side since I've been an avid gamer for a very long time... and I do see potential with SWTOR. However, time will tell so just come back in the future and see if it fits your interests

Generally got bored of the game pretty quick when it was first released... purchased the big box'd Collector's Edition back then.

Might give it a go again at some point, with all its updates.

I was actually planning on giving it a go again. I had the CE and I had 4-5 months of paid time from back in the day. Wanna guess how much I got in terms of Cartel Coins? A big, fat, fucking ZERO. According to the calculator I'm supposed to've gotten a fair bit, but nope.. nothing. Zero.

    And restricting ACTION BARS? Seriously?

  12. #52
If you called restricted content "free to play" then sure, SWToR is F2P.

To answer the poll though, no I have not and will not play the F2P version.

I'm playing and subbed. free to play model kinda sux

  14. #54
it seems most people returning never even finished to 50 in the first place, or new people. I redownloaded the other day and didn't last 5 minutes of F2P before I logged back on WoW. The restrictions are harsh.
The game is free to play, but it's pay to actually enjoy it

  15. #55
I like the story, can probably play it till finish with no problem.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing." Muhammad Ali

I am so sad with this game, i ve patiently waited for it to come all these years, and always hoped that its true potential will be unveiled the next patch, but after seing the ridiculous restrictions that came with the f2p model, i guess is time to give up.

i launched the game, and resubbed - its still fun, and the cartel system isnt even harsh, especially if you have preferred status, you basically get all the stuff the subscriber gets and all the stuff you had before f2p

  18. #58
It's not F2P it's extended trial under F2P name. I cant even comprehend how they can not see bad PR it generate for them...you log in as "prefered player" and you are forced to delete some of your old characters - just wow or you need to squeeze or your skills in 2 bars in MMO game - it's just ridiculous.

As much as I was keen on actually giving Swtor a try once more to see what they had actually done to adress the issues I had with the game roughly a year ago, I must admit that I found the restrictions to simply be all to constricting. Now, I am not asking for the full deal here, it is a free to play setup afterall, but really? some restrictions just caught me as, why the hell? such things as:

you could not toggle your helmet on and off. I mean really? this is a paied exclusive feature?
Limitations on action bars. I suppose that one is not to bad, but still, I really do not see the reason for it.
Unable to wear epic gear. Not really that it botherd me in the slightest, but it still kind of feels abit wierd, especially for like, lowlevel items.
Limitations on character slots. This was the real killer for me, I wanted to get back into the game, roll a new character, get a new feel for things, and what would be better then to try a class I had not yet played? but no, not even on another server, I would have to delete characters I had already leveld to 50 roughly a year ago, wich I feel is abit to limiting really.

All in all, I think that they should have picked Age of conans version of Free to play, where you can pretty much do the entierty of the game, the limitations that comes to play actually hit you when you get to maxlevel and start to look into things such as raiding.
