    RTS games OTHER than SC2?

Does anybody play any other RTS games besides SC2 anymore? Like online and either competitively or just for fun? I have a few that i play and wondered if anybody else plays them.

C&C3 Tiberium Wars. Man i love the scrin in this game...
Age of Mythology: Titans. I know this one is pretty old but to me it is still my favorite Go norse!
    Warhammer 40k: Retribution
    Warcraft 3
Battleforge. For some reason this game gets no love from the rts community makes me sad..sad indeed. Very fun game.

Does anybody play any of these, or has others that they might recommend? Trying to increase my RTS game size, and even though SC2 is...good, it's just not fun to me

Not a big RTS fan personally, but I noticed you dont have Company of Heroes on your list. If you have not played it, I highly recommend it. One of the best out there hands down.

There's Age of Empire, haven't personally played it, seemed to get adequate reviews.

You can try Total Wars series. It's a bit different of an RTS than the above mentions.

    The total war series.
When it comes to the actual battles it is far faaaaaaar beyond any other strategy game out there.
The ai could be better and are constantly improving in the series, but it can never be as perfect as some human players.
But then you can always do online battles, if you try it however dont be afraid to lose.
Nobody is a master in a day, esspecially when the game is 100% based on skill, control and management alone. It takes some time to master, and if you really come across a skilled veteran dont be disheartened, unless you are magnificent you should expect to lose against him for years before you reach his level.

Rome total war 2 is coming out in the last part of 2013. The graphics looks like it will require quite a hefty computer however.

May I ask why you don't enjoy SC, if you do enjoy RTS in general? I'm just curious.

Because it just feels shallow to me :/ i mean i grew up with AoE and AoM for RTS games, and those are what basically defined the genre for me. Basebuilding, walls, lots of resource management, and longer matches. SC2 is comparison to those just feels...shallow. Plus don't really like the controls very much either >_<

Also, im MORE into Medieval RTS games than Sci-Fi RTS. I do perfer some like C&C3/Warhammer 40k. But my main interest is Medieval.

I am looking forward to it, have not been anybody to try it yet tho >_>

    ------------------------------

To everybody saying Total War, tried it few years back and just couldn't get into it. It felt very weird to me :/ The one game i am trying to get is Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth 2 + xpac. But damn are they expensive $_$

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion might be worth a look.

Just going to list the ones I have and remember playing. Alot of them are outdated and ancient.

There are most likely dozens more out there. Just gotta' search for them!

    Supreme Commander
    Dawn of War
    Age of Empires
    Warcraft
    Homeworld
    Total War
    Rise of Nations
The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II
    Command and Conquer
    Achron
    Sins of a Solar Empire
    Star Wars: Empire at War
    Company of Heroes
    A Bridge To War
Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon
    Dragonshard

Halo Wars I personally enjoyed. Yes, it's for the 360, and RTS are slow for controllers and consoles, but, it's still a RTS. And for a console RTS, it wasn't half bad... It would of been s_ _ _loads better for the PC, but I consider it as a valid and well done RTS regardless of platform.

I got sick of SC2's matchmaking for 3:3... I swear to god, every match I try for ranked matches is just MARINE RUSH, BANELING RUSH, HYDRA RUSH... T_T

Age of Empires and Age of Empires: Online, were all very enjoyable series for me.

I got to try it out with a friend. I went infantry + infantry hero and did quick strike / take over spots / harass while he controlled a ground hero tank to defend with 2 aerial escorts and a bunch of turrets.

    It was awesome.

edit: my infantry hero had this debuff called like focus fire or something, so I could basically drop enemy heroes hard or take out large defenders fast.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 is definatly worth playing, the best C&C game imo. You can also try Red Alert 3 if you prefer a more modern RTS, but imo it didn't live up to Red Alert 2. The silly celeberties during the cutscenes is what makes the game for me.

If you prefer a ''serious, dark and storydriven'' RTS, I can also recommend C&C: Tiberian Sun. You've already played Tiberium Wars, and Tiberian Sun is just as amazing, but imo much more amazing.

Im thinking of trying out Red Alet 3, looks pretty dang neat. But my question is, in comparison to Tiberian Wars, how does it work? Would really like to know.

I'm on the same boat, sc2 is all about mashing buttons and APM spam.

I really enjoyed Red Alert 2 and it's my favourite game. I've been playing dawn of war 2: retribution lately and it's good but it doesn't have basebuilding but i guess it doesn't fit with 40k, you're really not supposed to get 1k space marines on the field. and IMO i don't like warhammer 40k in a rts viewpoint, i'd much prefered it in a firstperson or thirdperson. I know there's Space Marine but that game is a cheap console port with terrible FoV.

EDIT: Bugger off with red alert 3, it's a shame to the series and it's just bad. scrap that and go for 1 and 2.

Just play SC2, its the best you can get bascially.

sc2 is all about mashing buttons and APM spam.
    /facepalm

These comments are always comming from people who never played 1v1 Ladder in SC2 and just picked up a catchphrase from some newbies who got owned hard on ladder...

SC2 is BY FAR the most competetive and challenging game on the market. The skill ceiling is so much higher than in any other game. There are alot of people who play 12hrs/day and aren't even topclass.

Well,If you don't know really know anything about Starcraft then you'd better not talk about it at all. Yes, mechanical skills(micro, macro, multitask) are very important in Starcraft but so is strategy aspect of it. There's one korean progamer named Mvp who won 4 GSLs(the most precious and difficult tournament) with his superior strategy and planning. His mechanic is on better side but its his strategy that he excels at.
