Name your cat "dog". Problem solved. Or your bear "Hubschraubär" (zee Germans get it).

I name some pets after certain "iconic" players RL-name in my guild just for the giggles anouncing their death in pvp/5-man hcs

If I tame a pet with a name already ill keep its name. That's the thing it's their name. It's like you make a new friend and say " my names matt " and they're like " lol no you're David now "
