What is the meaning / reasoning behind making the R in the curse logo red?
fairly certain this should be in off-topic forum somewhere but I honestly don't know. Never really thought about it.
The letter R felt bad because in some countries he doesn't really get pronounced, so they gave him some extra attention to really stand out.
Because Curse wants to be like a pirate.. ARGH MATEY!! BLOOD RED SKIES AND SHIVER ME TIMBERS!!!

The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.
It's orange. Their colour scheme is white, grey and orange.
If all letters were white, it'd be boring. Colouring in a letter spices things up.
Picking the letter 'R' gave the logo the best balance.
They could've chosen 'CU', but that might've compromised the readability.
- Or, that's at least from a graphics point-of-view.

It's actually clever marketing by Volkswagen. In Europe their diesel cars are TDI (turbo diesel injection) and when the 'I' is red, it means it's the super duper higher horse powered version.
No idea, but I'm pretty sure it would look worse if that R wasn't red, also what Dacien said.
