My fondest memory was on my first character . A tauren warrior. Around lv 16 I decided to go exploring. I was questing in the Old Barrens so I chose to go down. Followed the road all the way through to Thousand Needles before I had to start corpse running. I got to Feralas & I was awe-struck. Everything was so big & people had mounts finally. One of the higher levels whispered me asking if I was lost. Then he ran me all the way back to the Barrens elevator, killing higher level mobs so they didn't kill me. I just thought the guy was a beast.

When I solo'd the quest for Rhok'delar. Everyone I knew at the time had help with either buffs, potions, people pulling other mobs away, etc. After a week or two (and alot of repair bills) I finally completed the quests to kill the demons and got the bow. Killed the one in Silithus on my second attempt. *self high five*

My fondest memories will always be of Elwynn Forest and Goldshire. I had my hearthstone set to Goldshire up until lvl50-something. When I had enough of leveling and exploring for the day I'd hearth and just chat to people in Goldshire.

I didn't read any WoW-related forums or trade chat back then, so the community seemed amazing because of the people I met out in the world.

Northrend I felt was a decent size. Pandaria is like half the size of Northrend. lol.

    Warlock mount event.
Exploring highlevel zones at level 20 something thinking the world was so insanely huge.
Onyxia first kill after 14 hours straight wiping, first Nefarian Kill, First Twin Emps kill.
Keeping 2 alliance raids from Raiding AQ 40 cause we didn't have enough ppl to raid ourselfes that night :P

Hitting 60 just before TBC was released, and attacking Goldshire day in and day out for several months. After hitting 70 in TBC, I did the same thing, but with Honor Hold instead.

Charging up blacksmith in arathi basin, only to find myself alone vs 10 players and then proceed to kill them all and cap bs just before I died of the warlock's dots.
Getting my severance would probably be the second fav moment or the first time we tried naxx and the first thrash in plague wing just completely shattered us.

Getting to Darnassus and thinking that the place was amazing, it was so huge, not knowing there were other cities out there. Seeing people with these bright orange and red glows on their wepons and wondering how they got them. Asking in general chat how to get a *glow* haha, and this rather lovely level 60 nelf, giving me beastslayer enchant on my staff I was so happy I had a red glow

The same level 60 asking me if I had been to Stormwind, and asking if I'd like to go.. and all through the long trek just being amazed at the size of the world.

The community was so helpful, no question was too stupid, everyone was in the same boat learning, and asking.

My first ever real *exploration* using wall jumping to get to the highest peak in Azeroth at the time going through Loch Modan, we all had a picnic at the top.

I have so many more amazing memories! It was all new and shiney and that was a great feeling!

    this.
also part of this was not getting your mount untill 40, and it taking forever to get there!
But yeah I miss LFG in trade chat, really built up community on your server, now more than half the time you do dungeons you don't even chat in party chat unless you're telling someone to pick up slack or that they're fucking something up.

So yeah to summarize that, I miss the community

Rolled into a WSG match and everyone knew my name, and I knew everyone on our team and 90% of the opposing team. There were actual server communities and your reputation mattered. Now it's all just anonymous b.s. except in your little clique guild.

Onyxia key quest line was b.a.

For all the haters: mechanics and balance sucked back then compared to now.

Me too! Quests were too hard to figure out back in those days, we didn't have quest helper, let alone built in WoW quest helper. All you had was http://www.Thottbot.com to look at the comments and follow the coordinates given.
