advice on gaming pc build

Ive been researching builds for a gaming pc and i found this video:

Would this be a good build for around $500, i would like to not go any higher than that. If not maybe some suggestions for a build around $500 or maybe less, the only game that will be played is wow.

Puppy and Dolphin
Overclocked Puppy will outperform Dolphin when multiple threads are in use (Not WoW) and come close in most other cases.
Mix and match anything but the CPU/Motherboard combo between Puppy and Dolphin. Pick one of the two CPU/Motherboard combos.

Would just the puppy build be okay to run wow on a pretty good setting or should I add some stuff from dolphin?

i'd recommend going for puppy build but using dolphin mobo/cpu (intel works better for wow due to cpu structure)

depends if student or work IT department can provide it for a discount?
legit cheapest is W8 64bit oem for $80 i think (officially we can't recommend the dark corners of the interwebs )

nope since laptops at that price point do not have a dedicated GPU . (and laptops already have allot of less power so won't run wow on even 40% of what the puppy setup with dolphin mobo/cpu can do)

That looks like a great budget build. The i3 2120 was the recommended dual core for the price on Tom's Hardware and it beat out most AMD quad cores on WoW BUT currently the Ivy Bridge i3 3220 took it's spot as the recommended and it's only $20 more. You just have to make sure you find an Ivy Bridge Motherboard and not a sandy bridge like the 2120 uses. Now for the video card, the 7770 is also currently on the Tom's recommended list but for $20 more you can get the Nvidia 560 ti which in my opinion would be the better choice since you get a lot of features from Nvidia like adaptive Vsync and all kinds of other options, good driver support and Physx which is seriously worth it in games like Borderlands 2 and Batman. I switched from an HD 6870 to a GTX 670 and I don't think I'm going back to AMD unless they just have the absolute best price/performance card at the time. Physx is AMAZING. Also, RAM is cheap so you could spend a few dollars more and just go with the 8gb for a 64 bit OS.

My girlfriend has a pretty new computer http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...t=5205744#N343 .....The graphics card is the radeon HD 6370D. Would it be cheaper to maybe add some stuff to this computer?

Possibly that CPU would bottleneck any mid-range graphics card and a weak PSU which would be around 250w which isn't going to cut any decent graphics card.

Rather look for any i3 with a h77 or h61 chipset and use any kind of DDR3 ram. Graphics card should be an amd 7770 with a psu of 430W from seasonic.
