    He meant PCI express 2.0 x1. He has a PCI Express 1.0 x1 slot.

    I looked over this, so I'm sorry. The SSD will still be limited to 250MB/s max.

    That card I linked has a Asmedia ASM1061 chipset which is just also on the z77 motherboards. Just right above the 2 intel ports on Asus.

    Never heard about that 30 seconds though for the POST.

    Might not be 30 seconds, but it will definitely take a lot of time. (depends on the controller chip etc.)
    To take an educated guess, i would expect ~10-15 seconds added boot time.
    Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?

    Never use crystaldiskmark to test the speed of a SSD disk.

    allways use AS-SSD-Benchmark or atto disk bench when you want to test the speed of your SSD disk. i would go with atto

    only use crystaldiskmark when you want to test the speed of your normal disk
