Looking to play Guild Wars 2

    Greetings Guild Wars Community,

My World of Warcraft Annual Pass is soon to come to an end, and over the past few months I've been growing very tired of World of Warcraft. I love the game still, but after eight years, things get very repetitive and dull.

I'm looking to change entirely and Guild Wars 2 looks like a really nice place to start. I have a Mac so the Mac Client is a great introduction to me. My concern is though the transition from WoW to GW2. I've always healed in WoW and I really enjoy the role, but I'm looking to change that by trying something really new and exciting.

I'm looking though for some basic introduction information. Simple things like analogies, things you found as former WoW Players that helped, and if anyone would be prepared to link some Videos or Blogs that help.

    Thanks!

Get ready to be blown away, this game is amazing

Going to give you a link to some general info. This is not a brush off, but should give you an idea so you can ask more specific questions. Note that some of this information is incorrect or dated.

Here is a video thread dating back to the beta. You can youtube for more specific stuff, there's millions of videos out there.

As far as healing goes, there is no trinity in GW2, all professions have some self heals and some have AOE heals. I think Elementalist has the strongest support (kinda-sorta-not-really plays like a mage) with Guardian (kinda-sorta-not-really plays like a paladin) as close second.

Think of Hearts like bread crumb quests. They lead you into an area but then the dynamic events unfold which is the real meat of the game. Listen to the NPCs, the villagers and soldiers asking for help or attention - they are not there for flavor!

Explore everywhere! You will find caves and underground caverns, sometimes whole zones hidden behind a waterfall or bush.

We have a ton of threads stickied at the top of this forum for just this reason. As well as many ongoing discussion threads.

I would advise you check the following:

GW2 is a totally different style of MMO from WoW. They have about as much in common as; hotkeys and tab targeting.

There is so much info and so many videos around it's hardly any effort to seek them out. The game is one of the most popular MMOs around at the moment.
