Crossbow Killings in Wyoming - Ban crossbows in the US?

3 Killed during attack at a Wyoming Community College

"The Casper police chief says three people are dead after an attack at a Wyoming community college.
Police say a sharp-edged weapon was used in the attack that killed the suspect, a faculty member, and one other person.
Police Chief Chris Walsh says two of the people were found dead at a the World Physical Science Center on the Casper College campus. The building was evacuated.
The third person was found dead at another location.
Casper Police Chief Chris Walsh told the Star Tribune no suspects were at large and no additional injuries were reported.
Earlier, Casper College spokesman Rich Fujita said the incident involved a crossbow or another similar weapon, Fujita said.
The school’s campus was locked down after the 9 a.m. incident and an advisory on its website warned students to stay away from campus until further notice.
No additional information was immediately available, Fujita said.
Casper College in Casper — four hours north of Denver — was the state’s first junior college when established in 1945 and currently has roughly 5,000 enrolled students, according to its website."

Lets consider banning all crossbows in the United States because they have been used to kill other human beings. Your thoughts?

Your ridiculous attempt to smear the pro-gun control people on this forum is actually a good suggestion. All items made specifically to kill and maim should be either banned or controlled carefully, crossbows included.

Also you can't ban kitchen knives, they are needed for things... like preparing food.

My thoughts are this is a sensational story you're trying to use to make a silly argument.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Its a legitimate story, I dont see how im trying to make a "silly arguement" as you put it.

What do you think about weapons of this nature being in the hands of the every day person? Do you think we should ban them in the United States?

Its poking at arguments people have been making about gun control. "Someone got killed with a ban, hence we must ban all guns".

How about we ban the Human brain, and whilst we are at it those of monkeys. It is after all the things that makes us use tools to kill each other. It also removes any argument currently going on about what to ban!

If crossbows were being used on a regular basis to kill people in the US, yes, I would support their ban, as crossbows are not required for other functions and their ban might reduce the number of deaths from crossbow injuries.

As crossbow-related murders are exceedingly rare in the US, however, I tend to say no, it's unnecessary to ban them.
