Solitary feedback, perhaps not. But judging solely on the number of disgruntled people in this thread alone, I would guess that a good number of people feel the same. And if only a fraction of them submit feedback asking for a change, that's still a ton of people. It'd be pretty hard to ignore.

I was given the same spiel a few days ago when I uploaded a video. I also picked the option to not give my name, personal use blah blah, didn't give me any trouble, still was able to use just my username as my display name.

The problem with places like Youtube is that they are so big they become self perpetuating. No matter how badly it sucks, people will continue to use it simply because people continue to use it. Things will have to get really bad before you see a change.

It's related to Google+. I don't think there is any way they can force you to use a Google+ account. I did it just because I wanted to change my Youtube name.

Meh, I doubt they'd force real names to be used. How could they enforce it anyway? Anyone could easily do like you did, first name your username, last name a bogus made up phrase of discontent, and with the number of people that are likely to do just that (I'd be one of them too) there's not much point in forcing the issue imho.

As a user youtube is kinda useless for anything besides music and random shit is linked to you. They are banking on the fact that people click other related videos when you get linked a random cat video from somebody on facebook rather than people subbing to users and loyally following them.

As a former uploader, youtube is also pretty useless. Rendering takes a while, uploading takes a while, processing takes a while, views are inaccurate. CPM is terrible if you are partnered. Livestreaming is just vastly superior in every single way, especially for gaming now.
