We have opinions. We want to express them. It sure seems like MMO is no longer the place to post opinions that might be contrary to Blizzard dogma. Shame on MMO.

Because we dont need 50 threads on "FEIR SUX!!!!" or whatever else their talking about is already in a thread.
cus like usiris said , if u wonna wine about how much they are nerfing mages u got xxx threads about this! if u wonna wine how much mages are op they are next to those first!
It sounds like the problem is mostly with the manner in which the opinions are expressed, not the opinions themselves. There really isn't any need for nor benefit to the amount of flaming that goes on. It bloats the threads. Why call people idiots?
I don't like the nerf, I think longer non-crit streaks make the spec more boring. I am glad that they didn't add a cooldown to Pyroblast, though. I would rather have the lower crit modifier than the cooldown. Right now Fire has an odd feel to it, with the PoM/AT macro being a huge DPS boost, it sacrifices a lot of the mobility of Fire (not being able to take Scorch if you want to absolutely maximize DPS by setting up a great Combustion). And that mobility is what made me really grow to like fire in Cata. It felt like a run and gun spec. I miss that. The reason that it feels weird is that I miss Scorch when it isn't gone. I just feel compelled to use PoM.

Because mages tend to whine too much when they are not on the top anymore like they have been for the past eight years.
Because they are full of great posts like this:
If fire is not a competitive spec, I'm going to quit. We'll see how that works out over the next week.Fire damage is way low. I'm going to give it one more go tonight then I'm probably going to quit playing since I refuse to switch to arcane or frost.Because fire dps is so low, it's not viable for raiding. This means no more playing for me since I won't go arcane or frost.
"Terror, darkness, power? The Forsaken crave not these things; the Forsaken ARE these things."
We are locking down threads either as a response to the tone of the content posted in those threads or as a preventive measure (as I have done earlier today) when we feel that the thread might even be starting on the wrong tone and has a very high probability of being derailed.
That being said, everyone's opinion is welcome and everyone has a chance to say exactly what they think or feel as long as what you write is within the bounds of common communicative courtesy.
Additionally, sometimes it's far more productive to lock a thread than to hand out a ridiculous amount of infractions.
While there are exceptions to this (none of which apply to class balance; it's for things like drug discussions and porn), that is the general rule for threads that are infracted or locked on any of these forums. It's not about the opinions expressed, but how people choose to express them.
That said: If there is any particular instance of moderation action you would like to be investigated, feel free to message an administrator (red name) about it and they will have a look at it.
And you wonder why I keep locking threads. I will now lock this one as well.
