He is implying that equality is the future of America, as it always has been. Right now, despite your constant assertions to the contrary, there is not equality. Gays have barely been able to speak out against the inequalities they live with since the 90s.

People have been claiming moral decay since there's been written word, and I dare say even before that. Enjoy being on the wrong side of history Rawdude, and here's hoping the Land of the Free lives up to the title.

US been in the forefront with lots of liberties compared to us europeans.
At the same time they are lagging behind with so many other liberties but it is inevitable that they (as a whole, many already do) end up with a sane stance on sexual orientation as well.

Mankind evolve, forward.
If there is anything that history tought us, it is that we progress. Not crippling ourselves with outdated values and beliefs even though at the time
they still seem to be sane to many people.

I have no illusions that the whole of US wont end where pretty much the rest of the free world already are, nor that we who already are there can improve further.

More specifically of note, the only notes that I've ever seen on homosexuality in the New Testament were from the apostles, not Jesus.

It's pretty much just Paul, really, it isn't mentioned outside of his works.

I agree, but my original point was that Marriage has in recent history been something that the Church deals with. Offering Civil Partnerships with the same protection rights, would solve the issue for now, and be a big step forward. You could then start work on Marriage.

But that's the thing. It hasn't been something the church deals with in recent history. The state has assumed control for quite a while now after a relatively brief spell of religious control.

The Bible speaks against homosexuality, and even calls it an abomination. Sodom and Gomorrah is an example.

Using Sodom and Gomorrah as an example is hilarious. The most holy man in the town offered up his two children for the Angels to rape so they wouldn't destroy the town.

Anyway, things the bible calls an abomination and are on the same level as homosexuality:

Women wearing pants.

Tattoos.

Lying. At all. About anything.

Eating seafood.

Eating pork.

Eating anything that has hooves.

Eating anything that walks on four legs.

Planting more than one type of crop in a field.

Wearing clothes made from more than one material.

Touching a woman at all while she's on her period.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head without reading up on my Leviticus. I'm sure you've committed every one of those except for homosexuality.

You say that like you think homosexuals are going to forcibly convert everyone to being gay. That's really not how it works, you do know that, right?

Yes, accepting that homosexuals aren't some kind of lesser being is the future of the US, and every other developed nation. There's no reason for such bigotry. Even referencing your faith doesn't make it concrete, since plenty of Christians ascribe those references the same credence they do the passages lauding slaveowning, or that are outrageously sexist.

i dont see how gay people would make you not want to live in america. i mean assuming your personal ideals are correct just because the government says gay people can get married doesnt mean god will let them into heaven O-O

Well, the other big part they ignore in Leviticus is that not only is it describing stuff that is "unclean", it also describes how to ritually cleanse yourself, since it was expected that you'd get spiritually "dirty" through the normal course of living.

There was none of this "you will burn forever" stuff.
