Planning to Install new parts tomorrow, quick check if you can please.

Hey i've recently ordered my new
    - gpu - asus gt 660ti
    - ram - 16GB corsair 1600
    - hdd - WD 1TB BLack 7200 RPM

Was just wondering if i could get a quick check, if they'll work with my system and such.

    My system specs;
    CPU - I5 3570k
    Mobo - Asus P8Z77-V LX
    psu - corsair tx 650
    ram - kingston 8gb 1333
    hdd - WD 1tb
    GPU - xfx 6770 hd

Planning on removing the 8gb ram currently installed and install the 4x4gb of ram i ordered, my boar is only a dual-channel, this confuses me a bit, there are 4 slots, and i was told that the dual channel is reffering to two sets (2 ram sticks) so therefore it means 4 ram slots...

The hdd is going to be purely for fraps, how do i work this? is it just like installing any other HDD...

The GPU, i'm planning on uninstalling all my xfx 6770 drivers, and then closing comp/taking it out, plugging in the gt 660ti and then installing them drivers.

Parts will be fine. And yes, just install it, format the drive and you'll be good to go. Set Fraps to the new drive location.

Dual channel doesn't refer to only being able to use 2 sticks of RAM as opposed to quad and 4 sticks.

If you really want to read up on it, you can just google dual vs quad channel memory. There's a few good articles. I'd link but I don't think I can.

Dual channel barely gives any real world gain, so you wouldn't loose much even if it wouldn't work (which it will).

Dual channel means that RAM sticks can be used in pairs to increase bandwidth (2 sticks used at once instead of just one). Your comput will still run in dual channel mode with the new RAM because it has two pairs of two idential sticks. Only X79 based motherboards have quad channel which would use RAM in sets of four sticks.

Yep, just like any other HDD. If you want the best possible speed out of it, split it into two parts while doing partitions. Make first partition about 2/3 the size of the disc (~600 GB) and leave the rest for second partition. Always use the first 600GB part for capping, and delete files you dont need. Both file fragmentation as well as using the last third of a HDD will slow down sustained write speed you need for video capture. You can use the last 300 GB split for anything you like except not for games or Windows. Download location or random porn/mp3 collection storage works fine.

Yep, that's the right way to do it. Shouldn't have any problems with it.

Around 5-10% on anything that uses RAM a lot like 3D rendering for example. Maybe 2-3% in games which shows in benchmarks but hardly ever in daily use.

    Trolling should be.
