And pay 10x the price, contrary to stereotypes, our medical and dental services are more than equal to the US ones.
The best way to pickup a dentist girl is indeed to come in with a mouth full of yellow and rotten teeth. :-)

Lived in Germany before, dentist cost me 80 euros for a year check-up / cleaning, my salary there was 2x smaller than here

In my home country, a similar visit would cost me 60 euros. But in my home country my salary would be 5x smaller as well.

So imo, Norway has a very cheap dental cost to be fair

Meh I visit the dentist 3 times a year for cleaning and checking, which costs about $500-600.

I easily pay that much for car maintenance for a year's worth of oil, weatherization, detailing.

I plan to keep my teeth a lot longer than my car. So the cost are worth it.

I'd love to know what dentist OP goes to, since I've yet to pay more than 90 euro for a dental checkup, and I live in Norway as well. Also, my dental hygiene is absolutely horrible, I can't remember the last time I had a "rinse and retreat"-visit.

Seriously, Skyr, what overpriced idiot checks your teeth?

I'm in the states, have dental insurance and I'm still stalling because its going to cost five hundred, after insurance, to fix two of my teeth.

What gives you the right to charge 250 euros for 2 pictures a checkup. Total time spent 6 minutes.

Now I have have a problem with my genes. I develop holes easly.
I bursh my teeth everyday, use mouthwash and the little strings you pull between your teeth to clean them. I dont eat sugar and i do everything possible to keep them healthy.

However my dental genes is not a disease therefore it will not be covered and I have to pay every single penny myself.
In 1 year i developed 13 holes. I believe i ate 1 piece of candy that entire year.

For those 13 holes and some root canal that needs to be done.
The treatment cost is 3691 Euros.
Ontop of that I am so scared of the dentist I would rather take a dull knife and cut of both my arms than spend 1 minute in a dentist chair. Dead serious.
I had a tragic experience with the dentist when I was 6 I was strapped down and left there for hours while crying and left me scarred for life.
So I get put to sleep for the procedure wich costs an additional 1708 euros.

So a total price of 5399 euros for the dentist.
Now this is an unusual situation for most people so lets not take this into consideration.

    HOWEVER

What gives you the right to charge 250 euros for 2 pictures.
Are you so extremly qualified and important in this world that you have the right to charge 125 euros each time you push a single button to take a picture?
I dont get it. I really dont.

A regluar checkup with just the dentist looking in your mouth with a mirror and spraying some air here and there costs about 150 euros.
HOW ON EARTH can you charge 150 euros that..

For a average man to earn 150 euros is a 8 hour long day of work. How can you say its right to charge 150 euros for 3 minutes of work that requires little effort. I dont get it. Do you?
Sounds to me like you need a better Union and/or Dental plan. I pay 0$ For every trip I make to the dentist. And since I li e in Canada Same goes for the doctor.
Although from what I understand someone up here will pay an exorbetent amount of money for the dentist. My last bill was over 500$ for 2 White enamel fillings. (The tooth coloured ones fuck silver) Luckily for me I have over 5500$ In coverage yearly between my fiance and myself. LIUNA 183 Might be a bunch of crooks but at least they give its members amazing benefits for what I pay. 100% Drug coverage as well.

My suggestion to you is find a job with a good union dental plan or find a company with good dental policies.

This thread reminds me of my recent visit to the emergency room because I dont have a primary care doctor in this area. I had a swollen eyelid and it itched like crazy. Basically all they did was take some vitals, look at my eye and write a prescription. With insurance it is costing me $100 for the vitals(really unnecessary anyway) and data entry and another $50 to the doctor for looking at my eye and writing a prescription. So it probably cost more than twice that without insurance. The best thing is that the diagnosis was wrong so I really got nothing out of it.

First I went to a regular dentist and have been going there for 10 years The prices were 25% cheaper. Still expensive.
I went to a dentist office with higher quality and noticed an extreme change. The current dentist told me I was entitled atleast 2000 euros worth of work done to my teeth at my previous dentist office becouse their work done to them was so poorly done. He adviced me to sue them.
Also told me there was so many things i was entitled to get refunded like broken teeth when i was younger caused by accident wich the previous dentist office charged me full price for.
Got 3 fake teeth refunded, like 15 fillings refunded when i changed to this new dentist office. Took him 3 minutes to find all the mistakes done in my teeth.

My previous office also when they did a regular checkup said I had 4 holes.
The new dentist office said I had 13. Some of them extremly small but better to fix it before it gets bigger. Will cost me less in the long run wich the previous dentist office did not give a simple fuck about.

    Its in Stavanger btw

You've had to pay more for that then I've had to for braces, and it only cost me 50 dollars to get two teeth pulled. Perhaps try to find a different dentist or are they all like that?

Well, Stavanger IS one of the most expensive places in Norway to live, but I had no idea it could get this bad! o.O I mean, I live in Karmøy, and like I said I have yet to pay a four-digit sum in NOK.

Just curious, but have you asked your dentist if it would just be cheaper to get fake teeth(don't remember the fancy name in english)? Have they given you any specific tips for your unique dental condition?

He had to pay and go to school for 8 years or more. He had to pay for the equipment, the office rent, the utilities, the gas to put you to sleep. He has to pay employees. He has to pay for gas to get to work everyday.....So you want him to charge you five bucks for an xray from a machine that he paid close to 80k to buy so he could run his business that he worked so hard to build?

Dentists don't make as much as you think. A dentist profits roughly a hundred grand a year, and he earned it. He didn't want to be some guy making hundred fifty a day, no offense.

I dunno who you have been talking too but their really isn't any pain if you follow the dentists instructions and take the meds.

Main thing with dentures is you really need to wear them as much as possible so the natural shape of your gums stays molded with them otherwise you would need to have them replaced every so often.

And, its going to become more and more like that in the US. Doctors quitting practice, the increased people in the system. the overall quality of care is going to go down, sadly. But its the price of covering millions and millions more.

Not true, I think you read too many facebook complaints. If you go to a private dentist with no money you are out of luck. A hospital will extract teeth in an emergency situation or maybe prescribe you something for the discomfort but you will get a bill.

Prices are over the top in Denmark aswell. My dad had really ugly teeth, he got all plastic teeth in turkey for 1/5th of the price here in Denmark.
Most people think "Turkey must have bad dentists etc. with those prices", but no, his smile is perfect and looks natural still.

Reason why the dentists in Turkey are better at doing these things is because its very common to get such surgeries made.

So if you intent to waste almost 6k euro on getting 13 holes fixed, you might aswell spend 3-4k euro on full renovation of your mouth and a nice 4 week holiday in a warm country at the same price.

That makes absolutely no sense for 2 reasons:

    a) In Norway, dental care is not free. So in principle everyone has to pay.

b)As part of Norway healthcare laws, healthcare is "free" means healthcare is "free". You pay heavy taxes, and that entitles you to healthcare, i.e. no one is paying more expensive medical bills so half the country can have it free.

Wow thats pretty damn expensive. I feel sad for people who have bad "teeth-genes" so to speak.

In the past 1-2 years I was pretty damn lazy at brushing my teeth... Only brushed them 1-2 times a week if that. Mostly when I was going out.

I went to the dentists last week and got told that I have pretty much perfect teeth apart from some dental calculus which the dentist then removed (which took maybe 15 minutes). Apparently there was quite a bit of it since the last time I had been to a dentists and had it removed was like 4 years ago... But anyways after it was removed my teeth were back to being (almost) snow-white :P

Whole thing cost me around 80 euros or so, which is not all that bad. I might have some more checkups from now on, though :P Maybe once a year.

I was also smart and got my wisdom-teeth removed when I was in the army as you get free dental/healthcare during it
