    Amber Shaper 10m Idea

Hey all, appreciate the help in advance.

We spent a bit of time on Amber Shaper 10m last week, still having people get the feel for being in construct, hoping to down it tomorrow night.

I had an idea for the fight, and I was curious for some feedback to see if its doable and/or overly complicated for the fight. I'm slightly worried about over thinking a fight that might not require it.

    First off, our comp:
Tanks - Guardian Druid, Prot Warr
Heals - Holy Pally, Resto Sham, Disc Priest/Resto Druid (both have a dps OS though the priest has a much better one)
DPS - Ret Pally (me), Aff lock, Mage, Hunter, Rogue

For living ambers, we have been just letting lock dot them up and then focus on boss/monstrosity/transformed people as needed. We could attempt to have more ranged dps handle these when there isn't a high priority target up. In phase 1, we let each tank eat one pool, this allows them to keep the debuff on the boss stacking, as opposed to falling off in between. It allowed us to speed through p1 much faster at the cost of eating 2 of the pools.

For phase 2 (and this is the possibly overly complex part), I was considering having the first person who gets transformed stay transformed for the rest of the fight. His job would be to alternate stacking the debuff on boss/monstrosity while interrupting himself. When other people get transformed, we break them out as usual in this phase. The new person transformed is responsible for interrupting the monstrosity explosion, as well as putting more stacks on boss/monstrosity. The permanent construct would assist in dps on the new construct. This would allow for constructs broken out early, as we have debuff stacks on them plus the dps from our permanent construct. Additionally, we would have a ton of stacks of debuff on boss for phase 3 as they've been stacking since the beginning of the fight.

Is this plan too complex? Are we better off just doing it as simply as possible?

    Thanks in advance.

WoL is available on server - Suramar, guild name is fear. Thanks

Remember KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid

You're only going to get an extra 3-4 stacks on the boss doing it this way and you lose DPS on the monstrosity. I suggest this:

Break out all the transformed as they go amber in phase 1 and 2. Heal through the Monstrosity's aoe instead of keeping a transformed around to interrupt it. Pop Heroism at phase 2 and get to phase 3 ASAP. Once in phase 3 focus all on the boss and let the transformed stay that way. We got our first kill last night using this strat and had 55 stacks on the boss when he died, with most of the raid transformed (getting healed by the amber splashes).

Indeed, keep it simple. Since the transformed is random, you may not get someone all the time that is perfect in their execution. While it's a simple fight for some, it may not be that way for all.

We break out tanks immediately and break out the phase 2 people immediately. They spam 1, hit 2 to self interupt and break out at < 20%. We heal through the boss AoE if it happens.

Regarding the living ambers. Since they do a fair amount of damage when they explode and heal up others within 8 yards - people focus their own down. Ranged helps the healers. This will prevent too many going off at once (generally). People should watch if others (toons and other ambers) are nearby if they are about to explode. Be sure to kill them around the center steps. As the boss goes to center in phase 3, MC'd people shouldn't have to go far to soak up pools as it's a dps race at that point.

Nearly heroic tactic right there, leave 2nd or 3rd transform in the monster (depending on dps). Stopping on the boss to get more amber scalpels. Don't let boss stacks drop off ever.

Transforms in phase 2 are interuppting amber monster, stacking debuffs on the boss (not eating pools).

Is this needed for normal? no.

No real reason to stack debuff on boss during p2 on reg. Make sure whoever is the construct is using right click to auto attack (smash) it does about 15-20% damage to the monstrosity during p2 making it go by much quicker, no need for hero on p2. Have people kill the oozes ASAP not just a lock dotting them. they do a lot of damage especially if on a healer.

If you are looking to down in in normal specifically, stacking the debuff on the boss is not needed.

I wouldn't do it that way for your first kill, I would say that is way too complex, as if you haven't killed it yet it's because people don't understand the constructs because that's the only real challenge in this fight. If people don't understand wtf they are supposed to be doing...which is actually quite simple, then there is no point in doing it this way, IMO. As soon as the contruct clicks for everyone in the raid, you're going to kill the boss. Yes, you will probably need something complex for a heroic kill on this guy, but even without the stacks on the boss, p3 is a piece of cake and lasts maybe a minute and a half at best.

P2 is the crucial point in this encounter in terms of your raid's success. We ignored the boss completely and kept the constructs focused on the monstrosity. We had all the dps but one (who was in charge of the add control) on the construct so we could get it to 20% without them having to drink...it can be tight but if you've gotten this far, you can do it (we also 3 healed it, lots of people use 2). Most of the monstrosity damage thus came from the vehicles and dots and things. Phase goes by a little slower but it's more controlled so it sets it up for a smoother transition into p3 with plenty of pools/time to kill it.

Your tactic would not work because you try to shorten p1 and thus having not enough pools for p2/p3.
First of all there is no need to shorten p1 as you gain nothing. Best advise for p1; be near the middle of the room so that all pools are near the middle. And don't eat pools.
Second phase you could do it like that with enough pools but it is no way necessary. "Kill" all converted people until the monstrosity has like 30% life and then no longer free the converted people; they should then stack on the boss and monstrosity (if you really need the additional dps).

After tons of P2 wipes, we adjusted our strategy based on the idea you gave. What we did is have the last tank to become transformed in Phase 1 would stay in construct for the entire fight. In phase 2, we had a DPS warrior taunt the monstrosity before each fling so the non-transformed tank never had his aggro dropped.

This worked extremely well, as the tank that was permanently amberred could concentrate completely on keeping Destabilize up and interrupting every explosion. We went from constant P2 wipes to downing it in just a few attempts.

When we tried to do P2 "freeform" style where we would depend on the random amber player to do the interrupts, there were always mistakes. Sometimes it was because of how the Reshape Life lined up with the explosion, giving the player too little time to interrupt it. Sometimes it was a case where the mutated player exploded at the same time the add was exploding and they couldn't interrupt both. Sometimes it was just a simple hitting it too early or hitting it too late or not leaving the construct in time.

Doing it this way shifted all responsibility to the tanks. There were still mistakes, but after a few attempts to practice it, it became second nature. It's a lot easier to teach two people that you know will be morphed rather than to try to teach everybody on the off-chance that they might get morphed.

We did run out of pools in P3 and it came very close as a result, but we had ton of time on the enrage, so when we repeat this strat, we still just stay in P1 a bit longer and let a few more pools build up.

Did something similar on our first couple of kills. We just dragged phase one out six constructs (took him to p2 before he began channelling the scalpal prior to the seventh). Then we just had first construct (who has to play perfectly but if you just do p2 'normally' every construct has to play perfectly so not much of a stretch) just stay in it. Basically with this we didn't waste any dps on constructs post p1. Just nuked monstrosity. Always dead about 10 seconds before it tried to cast its second amber explosion and we had more than enough pools to sustain p3 with the two extra constructs without pre stacking on the boss.
