Enhance shaman dps: need help with WoL reading

Greetings,

Just need someone to help interpret some logs on my guild's shaman. I have a shaman myself but I do not play enhance and not quite sure about how they work in MoP. Here are the logs:

My problem is that he is 483 in the log, with Relic, and compare with everyone else in the raid his dps just felt lower than his gear. Is there anything specific that he is doing wrong? Much thanks in advance.

Feel free to use my most recent parse as a good indicator of how much damage his spells should be doing, I'm only 6 iLevels above him and this should be the most Patchwerk style fight available. He pulled 64k dps wheras I got 80+

Main factor seems to be his weapons dropping his damage by around 10k+ (we are very weapon dependent, you can see this when comparing our melee/flametongue damage). He never casts Earth Shock when Flame shock is up, which would give him 5% more dps. Also, he seems to be missing Lava Lash and Unleash Elements a lot of the time, perhaps get him to change his keybindings up to make those more visible?

Half pointless answer, BUT first what u should do is tell him to get hit cap... Wish i knew how to read logs propoerly ... :/

He is Draenei, hit cap doesn't show on armoury properly with their 1% buff

From looking at his armoury:

I would suggest he gets a second profession for a start.

I would use dancing steel on his weapons even though they are LFR - they are still decent. If it too expensive i think windsong is the way to go. (but seriously shell out the gold)

Check to see if he has his trinkets 'on use' bound to a spell.

We're all about our cooldowns, so make sure he uses them off cooldown.

There is controversy about the flame shock glyph, so get him onto a simulator.

While we're on the subject of glyphs and talents - make sure he does actually change them on a fight by fight basis as needed, as that is what the new system is for.

Just based off of the Feng kill he either didn't prepot or forgot to use it in combat. I don't like basing stuff off of a Garajal log because it can miss some of the sample due to the spirit world and stuff.

Glossing over what has been previously stated (the Earth Shock thing in particular is really bad. He shouldn't use flame shock unless it is about to fall off with the Unleash Flame debuff) he is reforging out of haste which is currently his strongest stat due to how extreme he went with it. He should be reforging out of crit more if possible. Actually, I just noticed he is reforging INTO crit which is by far his worst stat of the three right now.

I bet a lot of his problems will be fixed if he just downloads the addon ShockAndAwe and pays attention to the priority timer. It isn't perfect and to squeeze out the very best DPS it won't do you much good but he is simming at 85k right now on a 6 minute fight, which doesn't even take into account potential upgrades in enchants and a second profession. He is just playing the class very poorly right now and having a helper would see, I'd imagine, a 20k improvement at least. Maybe 30k.

There should be a guide on how to read those logs, because all I see are numbers... which doesn't tell me all that much

Pick a fight you think he did poorly on and compare his numbers to some of the top enhancement shamans on that fight with comparebot ( http://raidbots.com/comparebot/ ). They will likely have much better gear than him, but that doesn't matter if the only thing you look at is the hits per minute column (should be roughly the same regardless of gear level, since stats don't affect our ability usage much (other than lightning bolt)).

His auto-attack and lightning shield damaging events per minute seems low, which implies that he's spending a decent amount of time out of melee range. It looks like he's barely using earth shock at all, and he didn't use fire nova much (not helping to aoe down the adds, which is either an error on his part if he's supposed to, or it might just be part of your strategy). His lightning bolt usage was also a bit lower, but part of that might be gear. Other than that, he appears to be using all of his other abilities close to on-par with what he should.
