Looking for a new laptop <$1001

    Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new laptop. The one I was going to purchase after my Vegas trip just went up $100 from being a killer deal at $850 to a "meh I might be able to do better" at $950. As a result I am restarting my search.

I'm looking for a laptop that is:
-$1,000 or less. $1,050 being the absolute max
    -17-17.3 inch screen
    -Dedicated GPU (prefer 650m+)
-Prefer 1080p resolution but I understand that is a stretch at this price range
-3rd gen Intel CPU, i7? I understand an i5 is perfectly acceptable for desktop gaming and an i7 is overkill but am unsure about laptops.
-On the fence about refurbs/open boxes. Are they legit? If so, I am open to them.

Finding i5 laptops w/ GPU's is near impossible, finding anything under $1000 atm will be difficult given your parameters.

Honestly none of these are worth the money, they all feature 650m's and the last featuring a 660m, thing is even so the 660m is not equal to the 660 desktop card. The current Ideal laptop GPU is the 670m.

My advice would be save up a few more dollars and aim for this laptop.

argh must say it is easier to find a good 15" with QM + good gpu.
is 17" really a must for screen size?
else the 4th yurano listed is likely best to suit your needs.

it is not wise to ever open a warrantied laptop it is not a desktop, buy it how your want it or do not bother purchasing. It doesnt sound like this guys income is disposable his warranty will be needed.

I'd also note you showed a ton of laptops over his price range severely, you linked bottom barrel 5400rpm HDDs and No OS...note I went into detail about his parameters being a bit of a stretch and showed it w/ laptops under $1000 featuring gimped situations, then went on to show the $1100 laptop which is by far the best deal close to his pricing.

Thank you all for the help and suggestions!

I can stretch the budget to $1,200 if payment options are available. I was planning on getting in touch with one of the retailers and inquiring about a payment plan, say for example $600 up front, $600 over the next 12 months at whatever APR or 4 payments of $300, something along those lines.

I listed $1,000 as a budget because that is what I'm willing to put down all at once.

As for the 17 inch screen I would say it is important as the laptop is for both myself and my significant other who is helping finance and as such has a say in the matter.

If anyone has information regarding retailer payment options I would love to listen. Obviously prefer interest-free if payed by whenever their arbitrary date is. I would just rather not spend all that money at once.

likely was a demo model , staying within budget (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...658&IsNodeId=1) QM + 660M is best combo in range of the budget.

So there is this refurb on NewEgg that looks like it could fit my description:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834230580

Put a $10 off coupon code in there too. I trust NewEgg but refurb makes me a little uneasy.

refurb are just patched up products which are most of the time on par with quality as brand new ones. (i got a wd green 3tb for +-65% of original retail price and it works 100% like any other, perhaps 1 in a dozen but refurbs are usually tested the same way as "new" laptops)
