Right. There are alternatives to "purses" that men can use to carry large amounts of stuff without looking weird. Use a briefcase or a backpack and no one will look at you like you are strange.

I think what needs to be said here is that thus far though, it is not considered "manly" to carry a handbag.

Men are stupid. Men are gruff. Men carry only what they need, and often forget half of those somewhere. What's considered "manly" by most of the people on this planet is very simple and silly, and unfortunately heterosexual.

Is there anything WRONG with doing X? No. If X is not Y though, Y being the concept of "manliness", then it's not considered manly. Do you want to be manly or do you want to be doing something that isn't considered wrong?
A more important point is that you "man" or "manly" is going to vary by culture. If you were to go to Japan, for example, you'd see a ton of guys wearing these kinds of bags. In North America, though, you wouldn't.

If you work in the modern world, you will need a pad of paper and a pen, Laptop, or a tablet device. Also you will need certain everyday items which include your cell phone, keys, wallet, multipurpose tool, and some form of mindless waiting around entertainment.

Since the business would is about slacks and collard shirts, you will not have room in your pockets for everything.

Your options are Laptop bag, messenger bag, brief case, or a back pack.

Second, why do you need to carry a book, a magazine, lotion, and hand sanitizer among other things? What type of an excursion are you going on? A book and a magazine? how much reading do you have time to do during the day, and even if you have time, get an e-reader or tablet. Any place where you would need to have clean hands also has a sink (surprising, I know!).
I assume nothing when it comes to Bronies, As far as I tell they are just people with a sense of humor. Now me on the other hand, I fully admit publicly I am a transsexual. You can tell the difference. Also if you don't feel secure enough in your masculinity to discus man bags maturely you are the one with an issue of gender identity not the Bronie.

Well how else is a man supposed to carry around his stuff when you need more space, just wear a backpack around?

I don't see why anyone should judge you on those.

Simple, they are easy to steal off of someone. Also because they where popular with tourists it sort of marked people as local or from out of town.

I had a friend that wore a fanny pack for a year straight. Think it was 4 years ago. He thought they were practical. Don't remember why he stopped. Maybe I should get a nice one for him on his next birthday?

    Why carry a bag?
I have to travel from home to university every day with a tablet, text books, pens, note books, other stuff too. I'm not going to carry all that in my hands/pockets :P

OT: I use a backpack but I would have no problem using a man bag as long as it is plain and simple, with a neutral colour such as grey. I don't actually see why other men would have a problem with it, it sort of reminds me of an article I read once saying that most men refuse to make eye contact with a gay porn thumbnail on a pornographic website because they are scared of their own masculinity, being worried that they would get aroused.

Men don't generally need a man purse. Why? Because we wear cargo pants and awesome shit like this instead.

These should be quest rewards for a blood elf paladin class quest.

Just wear a backpack, it can hold more, and doesn't send off the wrong message if you're straight.

I carry a Jansport backpack with me if I know I'm going to carry more than my pockets can hold and just sling it over one shoulder. Same effect as a purse and a fair sight easier to walk around with.
Be seeing you guys on Bloodsail Buccaneers NA!

How does wearing a handbag imply one is gay, exactly?

The lines are being blurred, and thankfully so.

I'm not sure when in history a purse became a "girl only" thing? A purse used to be a man and a women's thing. It was not for just one sex. Those look fine for me.
