Yeah music videos are pretty much dead. Country music still has them, if you like country, which I do. Though, I rarely ever watch CMT or GAC.

I disagree with radio. I think some genres can be unstable. It's so hard to keep an 80/90 mix station in my area. We use to have a great station, but then it was sold and the material was changed to horrible new R&B and pop.

Libararies, not dead. Students and certain fields still use them largely, But they seem to be declining. Internet and now the increase use of ebooks and tablets are keeping people away too I'd imagine.

isn't this how generational gaps always work. You think your parents liked headbangers ball (yea im sure some did). If not them, then your grandparents? I'm sure the kids of the world don't think music or radio is dead - to them it is very much alive.

    Saturday night TV
Used to be action shows, and established stand up comedians
    now its
Talent shows, and "reality" shows. not sure how real it is being trapped in a jungle having to put your head in a plastic box filled with snakes though.

    Department stores.

Huge issue here but all the major stores ignored online retail and now getting shut down because the people see how much they get ripped off in stores so they go online, the retailers are crying to the government to 'protect' them. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so serious.

The Science Fiction TV genre. It's either vanished or become reduced to low budget reality rubbish.

My only thought on it is that all of the material has been used up. Space may be infinite, but imagination can have its limits.

Shows aimed at young boys have vanished. The only kid shows that exist are for toddlers and little girls. I guess it has to do with the increased exposure to adult themes at a younger age.

You know what it is ?

Young executive from music and tv will cater what the youth need in this generation and not that generation that we did know when we were young so now they are do that same formula over and over again

    boombox's.
    vcr's.
video rental stores. (the one by me is nearly empty almost all the time whereas 3 years ago it was always jam packed full of people and you had to get there early to rent anything decent.)
crpgs.(its all about the fps genre now. i can name several others but this one stands out to me.)
the might & magic franchise.(still don't know why ubisoft bought it if they refuse to do anything with it.)
    the history channels educational programming.
the soul of the gaming industry in general.
i can think of many others but they escape me at the moment.

Oh gosh, SO much this. Gone forever are the days when opinion was simply that... something mentioned and done with. Now everything little difference is offensive and the loudest, and often most ignorant, groups expect everyone else to cater to them so they can live without having to see/hear *insert topic*.

Religion, some are still just slow on grasping it.
But soon after Mr Xi secured a third term, Apple released a new version of the feature in China, limiting its scope. Now Chinese users of iPhones and other Apple devices are restricted to a 10-minute window when receiving files from people who are not listed as a contact. After 10 minutes, users can only receive files from contacts.
Apple did not explain why the update was first introduced in China, but over the years, the tech giant has been criticised for appeasing Beijing.

I never liked music videos, I was only interested in the music itself :P
Sadly these days it seems more work is put into the music videos rather than the music..

    The Science Fiction TV genre
Somewhat agree, there's a lot less good sci-fi shows these days. Also, the fantasy genre, at least when it comes to series is getting to obsessed with vampires and werewolves..

CD's are more or less dead, fewer and fewer places even bother to sell them. Same with DVD's, since hardly anyone buys them when you can stream, download etc.
not that it bothers me, iv'e never bought a CD XD

our parents didn't have to deal with reality tv that was all staged. they didn't have to deal with honey boo boo on the learning channel

this is pretty unique. this is the age of fake reality and people seem to love it. i'm the only one in my family who doesn't watch that crap. everyone else loves it
this isn't really about musical style/genre changes as much as how we're openly sold crap. we're happy to get crap at a high rate. it's better than quality at a lower rate.

Same here. I actually own NO CD's (Unless you are counting my PlayStation game collection.)
They've become a item of preference where some people may feel the need to own a physical copy while others don't. Me... I'll find it somewhere free on Google and send it to my MP3 player.
Remember when everyone used to have CD players? I was too little to care or understand how to use one. By the time I was interested, MP3/Radio players were the normal means of music. Now it's smart phones!

First off Fizzbob - thank you for reading my post - unlike irish who after my post posted the same fucking thing saying "that's why" when i said it hours ago... those people are the coolest people, you know the ones - you answer their question and then a few minutes later they say they got the answer - and it's what you already told them LOL.

And on to your point, Yes from our prospective it will always seem 'extreme' or 'we have it the worst' - but seriously step back for a moment and imagine the horror that older folks saw with the punk scene - or even the heavy metal scene discussed earlier, to them it is just as bad and horrorific as what you are seeing. It is the nature of our shallow, empty, money-driven society to replace everything with a new genration - in a way that makes it near impossible for people of the two generations to bond. The young are like - man that is so corny and uncool, and the old are like - what kind of fucking garbage is that? your cloths are almost scary!
