    my CRT is turning the screen on and off by itself

    I notice for a few month i assure is was ether a bad video card or a surge problem with the psu i was hopping someone let me what is going on ?

    is my CRT going kaput !

    This kind of probelm is most likely caused by bad capacitor of your monitors power circuit.

    Open up your monitor and see if all the capacitors of the power circuit are OK. OK capacitor is flat on the top.

    Time to upgrade to LCD! I was hesitant to do so a year ago after using CRT all my life, but after a few days you are used to it and its a change for the better : )

    If you take this guy's advice, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING INSIDE THE MONITOR while you're looking. Certain sections of CRTs use very high voltages (tens of kilovolts) and will hold a sizable charge for weeks after you've unplugged it.
