Lightbulb Turning WoW into a single-player RPG

I was just reading through MMO-C, and the official forums, and I hear everyone talking about how bad the game is because of the community, or how bad things have gotten since LFD, LFR, and CRZ. Personally, I am ok with the game as it stands and use the /ignore feature to it's fullest potential when it comes to the trolls. What crossed my mind was this:

What if World of Warcraft spawned a single player RPG?
Essentially, it would be just like Warcraft, Starcraft, or Diablo, where you could play with friends in a multiplayer environment, or a single player version with NPCs to back you up in Dungeons. Of course, you would have to control the tempo of the fight and either tank hard, and keep aggro, DPS hard, and keep the tank supported, or heal hard, and make sure your party of NPCs does not die.

You could still get mounts, quests would give more gold, and a fake AH would allow you to make money while competing with higher end NPC pricing. As I said before, I am ok with the game as it stands and use the /ignore feature to it's fullest potential when it comes to the trolls. I just found myself putting WoW in the same position as WC3, but keeping the standards and graphics as they stand. You could even use the BNet servers for your Multiplayers where a game could be comprised of just you, your friends, your guild, and even other guilds you might currently run with. No chance of getting ganked, since you will know everyone playing in your game, and no chance of getting trolled or dealing with the community that people are disliking so much lately.

That's just me rambling. One of those daydreams I just felt like sharing. Feel free to respond if you are for or against it, or what you might add or change. Reminder, this was just a musing of mine and I am not recommending replacing WoW with a single player RPG. I was simply imagining if Blizz made a single player RPG from WoW allowing single or multiplayer.

First of all, RTS doesn't mean what you think it means. It's Real Time Strategy: so like Warcraft 1-3 and Starcraft 1/2. What you go on to describe WoW as becoming isn't an RTS in the slightest, it's just vastly reduced capacity servers where you only play with your friends/guild.

As such, no thank you. With MoP I've actually rediscovered my server's community, and know a lot more people than I used to due to the dailies, going out into the world, Brawler's Guild, etc. It would be a shame to lose that again.

    I would like a Warcraft-like RTS mini-game in WoW.

    Warcraft in Warcraft.

What you're describing isn't an RTS at all, not even a little bit. You're describing is a single-player RPG.

Fixed. It is now branded as a Single player RPG for everyone who knew what I meant, but still insisted on correcting me

A single-player RPG in the Warcraft universe would probably be cool. Could get all advanced, next-gen with the graphics and everything, it'd be an opportunity to tell a much more centralized story, and could create some cool player archetypes to pick from. But to try and recreate WoW as a single-player wouldn't be very good, since a lot of what makes WoW what it is has to do with it being, you know, an MMO.

Oh, and I don't think you know what an RTS is.

I've been wishing for a WoW single player RPG ever since Oblivion ... something done in that style but with warcraft lore but make it fucking modable ... biggest failure of d3 was no modability... would've extended the game's lifetime by years for many many players...

Not really necessary or anything. I wouldn't mind being able to do dungeons with bots though. For those times when you have a long queue in the middle of the night.

Exactly. It essentially turns the dungeon runs into more of an "Escort quest". I know it is silly to need bots in an MMO, but for a SP-RPG, might come in handy. Then before entering the dungeon queue you can select "NPC Assist" or "Created Group" (Bots or People).

Depends on how they do it, a single player rpg similar to Skyrim focused on exploration and lore more then killing dragons in raid dungeons could work, Would prefer if it was live action combat instead of hotkey gameplay in that case, i.e how skyrim was done but set in azeroth.

the only thing i need other players for is to buy the stuff that i farmed on the Auction house.
i'm no longer able to do dungeons due to my illness but i still love to do quests and grind from time to time.
