Playing a lot of Torchlight II lately

And I'm interested in using some mods, but aside from using Addons through Curse Client in WoW, I have no idea how to do so.

I see that they are game approved since you actually get some achievements for using mods, but I can't see any info in game on how to use them. Anyone with any experience playing TL2 all modded up? What kinds of things mods do? How they are to download/install?

Any help would be much appreciated :-)
