Paul Broun hasn't really run opposed by anyone in any serious capacity. Why? Because the people of my state are completely fucked in the head and the majority of them share his beliefs. Any candidate that runs against him loses by such a large margin that it seems almost pointless. Even the moderate Republican candidates lose by a landslide. The funny part is, he loses terribly in his home district.

I literally don't think I could be friends with someone that would state, "I feel Paul Broun represents what I stand for". I think the same is true for Bachmann.

She actually represents most of her district real well. It's the wasteland people drive through on the way to the cabin.

You might desagree with her you might go as far as hating her but whats funny she doesn't have to answer to any of you in this thread the only people she has to answer to are the people in her district and they keep reelecting her

this is what is so right about the American political system the back water towns all across America that you progs so much despise have just as strong and equal of a voice as the liberals in the big cities its probably the only thing that has saved this country from becoming a socialist country

It is the dirty south hiding in the northern snow. The 'obama is cummin fur my guns!' and 'less taxes, but keep giving me my welfare!' people...

Yes, uneducated, anti-intellectual, prejudiced people are what has made America what it is today, I agree.

I grew up in a "small backwater town". I'd say that thinking people like Paul Broun accurately represent small towns is a far great slam on small towns than anything I've ever said in any context. I have some faith that most folks in small towns aren't sufficiently fucking stupid to vote for an idiot that says the Earth is 6,000 years old. This is a regional problem more than anything else.

That's why her specific district matters. Come 2014 it doesn't matter what 20k people in California and 15k people in New York think about her. What is going to matter what people in her section of (I want to say) Minnesota(?) think about her

    You have the correct state!

While national opinion of her doesn't effect her election, national opinion of the Republican Party surely does move based on people like her. Remember, enough elections are close that it doesn't take that much movement to matter. If there's a significant backlash against a party member (I don't know that there actually is in this case, I suspect outrage against Bachmann is almost entirely from the left), it behooves the party leaders to ostracize him/her.

Bachmann and all the other extreme right wingers have hi jacked the GOP, And until GOP decides to clean house with the teaparty fanatics they will be viewed as equally guilty as the teaparty on the stupid view of the teaparty. If you dont stand up against the idiocy from Rush and Glenn you are just as guilty as them in being an extreme right winger. Until GOP stands up and drive these extremists out of the party they will be viewed as the party of the extremists

And you think that 178,000 signitures (very likely mostly from people who aren't going to vote Republican anyway) out of over 300 million people is going to do that? I think not.

Bingo. I could get a million republicans from all over the nation to sign a petition asking Nancy Pelosi to step down. If Nancy Pelosi did anything but laugh at the petition, she would be even more foolish than I previously thought.

You can get 0.06% of the nation to sign a petition calling for anything. It doesn’t show or mean anything whatsoever and those making comitee appointments know that.

A special committee with outside expertise in form of Sarah Palin to investigate the need of a bridge between the two Diomede islands in bering strait, with all the expertise from Palin it sure will be a great study.

America is a socialist country, compared to other countries we just suck at it. Instead of universal healthcare America gives money to the richest companies on Earth. Our military complex is a massive corporate welfare program. We pay farmers to grow crops that help make us obese diabetics. Subsidized medical care for the poor via bankruptcy courts. Private Prison welfare that has lead the home of the free to the highest per capita prisoner population in the world, a rate that is 8 times greater then bastions of freedom such as China and Iran.

Conservatives have become some kind of corporate communists, trying to eliminate government for more costly private sector solutions which would disenfranchise average American's from having a voice in how things are run.
