Looking to discuss the stupidity of some rules concerning topics allowed on this site

So I saw a thread locked for talking about illegal stuff....except it ISN'T illegal in every country.
When I joined here I signed a tos or something, but no where in it does it state I need to follow the arbitrary laws of a foreign country, and no fucking way that would EVER hold up in a court.( ever read of a court case where a site user was banned for ...something...and got it overturned in a court and the company got a slap?)

So, what gives? how can mmochamp get around this? Don't you fucking dare message back with 'their site they make the rules' b/c if that were the case anyone could make any site and impose any rules and suffer no ill harm should they break REAL laws ect. (child porn, snuff talk, illegal movies the list goes on), and we know it just ain't so.

So with concerns to drugs and alcohol, just who makes these rules? And by what standards?
Mods: If could take the time to explain how locking a thread talking about something that is perfectly legal here is the correct thing to do in your eyes?
I do this not to troll, but to get a topic mmochamp should clear up once and for all out in the open for frank, clear discussion.

If you close this for talking about a closed thread I am not doing that. I am discussing a real issue here.
Closing this thread can only lead to bad things.

What are you talking about? Threatening to sue for discussing illegal activities on a website?

The very least you could do is PM the mod who closed the thread and asked instead of putting on your "tough-guy" pants.

We just have to accept that the rules on these forums reflect upon the laws in which country this forum originates from. However, there are other forums on the internet where discussions about illegal substances is allowed and where there are very experienced people willing to help/discuss these substances with you. I can't direct you to one of these sites as that would break the rules of the forum but I can say this, Google is your friend.

It's illegal in OPs country and AFAIK it's illegal in the country MMO-champion's server is located. Anyway it's MMO-C's own policy which matter and they have pretty free hands with moderating.

You're being quite drilled for such an issue.

There are other forums out there for discussing such topics that are questionable. Just because it is illegal one place and not illegal another place DOES NOT MATTER. MMO-Champ makes the rules for their own sites and the mods are there to enforce those rules. If you don't like it, don't post here.

It's not illegal in OP's country, it's controlled. Op has dual citizenship, one county it is PERFECTLY LEGAL and can be bought over the counter in stores. In the second country I have a licence to grow and smoke it due to health.
I did not ask or work for cancer, but I'll be damned if I should be ashamed of it, or what I need to do to live with it for now.

What is it with you guys licking up mmochamp telling you what to think and talk about?
If it's b/c the topic is drugs and drugs are bad, well, that's your fucked up perception, and depends on circumstance. If it's b/c kids use this site, then all the more reason to have frank discussion. Not talking about the facts and leaving it to the government to educate children about drugs has not worked one bit now has it?

And yet it is still against the forum rules to discuss. Why you think an angry post about how affronted you are that the MMO rules would DARE not let you discuss whatever you want on what is their property is going to change anything is pretty shocking to me.

There is no law in the country of the server that says they 'must' allow you to talk about anything you want, so they don't have to. You don't seem to understand how laws (national or international) work nor why mods do what they do.

It's Illegal in the country where Mmo-C is registered. That's why threads get locked.
Besides, there's plenty of other forums related to those topics, why not just post there instead.
And eight, eight, I forget what eight was for

You honestly should just sue them, lose the case immediately, and get over it. It would probably waste less of your time then trying to question a fansite about the stuff it allows and doesn't allow.

Also, if you think stuff like child porn is in the same vein as what you are talking about, I don't even know what to say.

This, they have to abide by the laws of the country where their servers are located. Simple as that.

Should MMO-Champ then have an army of legal experts and tag each thread according to which countries it is legal to read them or there may or may not be consequences for the debate? Or should they just decide that threads debating things illegal in the host country get the lock? The last version seems the most viable

Granted i have no idea what debate you are referring to. But let us take an example. It has been debated in some countries and potentially added as a law that any debate on how to circumvent copy right protections is illegal. In my country such debate is perfectly valid, explaining such things perfectly legal (liberty being important) if however mmo champ is hosted in a country where this is not the case then in fact the site it self could suffer legal consequences from such debate. They would be idiots should they allow debates that could cause them to suffer consequences and be forced to shut down the site

Not sure if OP understands that this is a gaming forum and not a drug advocation movement. Here, let me set you on the right path. Now off you go! Good day to you, sir

What is with you getting so mad about forcing a drug discussion on an infertile land? There's really no audience here for that, it's not a big brother -case you make it out to be. It's MMO-Cs policies still by the end of the day, there's no going around them.

Don't like the rules you are in luck, the internet is a huge place go make your own forums or find another. If that solution isn't what you want you are sol, their house their rules.

Just for S&G, the gateway I'm hitting when connecting to mmo-champion is in Huntsville, Alabama, USA, where I don't believe even medical marijuana is legalized. Never the less, Marijuana illegal federally in the US for all purposes, so actually talking about smoking generally results in thread closures.

If you want to start a thread about studies or research into marijuana being good/bad, that might stay around for a while, I'm not sure, although I know I've been in debates about it in other threads.
