    Looking for a new GPU

Hey everyone, so I recently decided on getting myself an FX 6300 Vishera and now I'm looking at which GPU to get. Thanks for any feedback guys!!

    Current Rig:
    775 watt Diablotek ATX PSU
AMD Vishera FX-6300 3.5 GHz (Six Core)
    8gb Gskill Ripjaws DDR3 1333 (2x4gb)
    Galaxy GTX 560 (Non Ti)
    7200 RPM Hitachi HDD
    HAF Coolermaster

    Budget is currently at 200-300$

Here are the two that are on my mind -

Overall they are fairly evenly matched cards, the 660 pulls ahead in some cases the 7870 in others. As a Nvidia fan boy and having never had an issue with EVGA cards I would personally go for the 660 but if you want to save some money the 7870 isn't much of a step down if any.

EDIT: I didn't realize it was a 660 TI never mind in basically all cases the 660 TI beats the 7870 pretty overwhelmingly. In my opinion go with the 660 TI no doubt.

Thanks for the quick reply, it is 70 bucks cheaper haha I was more leaning towards it, but the forum is still open for more opinions! Thanks Sayier

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...D=3938566&SID= much better card than the EVGA version.

So you guys think the 660 ti is worth the extra 70 bucks?

It is more like $35 if you take the ASUS card I linked.

Im no real wizz or annything about the subject, but i think it depends on how long you will use the video card.
If your not planning to upgrade it for a year or 3 then i'd say yes! its worth the 70 bucks, but if your gonna upgrade some time next year or year and a half then no i dont think it will be worth it.

well its 220$ for 7870 vs 275$ for 660 ti (Both after rebates)

Also keep in mind the 7870 is the tahiti LE, I was recommended that version over standard 7870, does anyone know what this means?

I wouldn't take the other cards with reference coolers.

Reference coolers? and why did you link the non tahiti? I'm soo confused lmao

It isn't non Tahiti. It is a Tahiti LE just like the other but it has a better cooling solution. It is cooler and makes less noise.

By the number of stream processors. The one you just linked is the normal 7870 with a Pitcairn GPU.

so still go for tahiti? forget about the iceq, the cooling caught my eye

It seems that the 660Ti and the 7870 Tahiti LE are quite close in performance. Considering the price difference I would say that the AMD card is a better purchase.

I was thinking that as well, and what about the iceq? the cooling isn't outstanding or anything?

That cooling system isn't that much better than the stock when it comes to temperature. I've checked a review and they noticed only a 4C difference between them.

Ok awesome, so looks like I'll be going with the tahiti, would you recommend the Powercooler or Sapphire?

I would go with the Sapphire card, it has better cooling.

edit: Actually scrap that, I just noticed that the Powercolor is $30 cheaper after the rebate so that might be a better purchase.

If you are looking to play Diablo 3 don't get the 660 ti... I am having major issues with only that game on this card. Runs terrible in diablo 3 for some reason, but everything else like wow/lol/planetside 2 runs flawlessly with no hiccups.
