On a somewhat related note I gotta get something off my chest. Is it just me that hates how people refer to african-americans as black people? This for me is not a racist is but a colourist(?) issue. Most african-americans now look more like the color brown then black now so shouldn't we refer them as brown people?

Sure there are some that still look like they are actually usually the people who family who lived in Africa and did not mix there race up being with other races. It ihas come to the point were people are forgetting what colors are:}.

Yes, because overall it hurts society. Look at what life was like to the blacks before the civil rights act (and I'm not saying things are perfect now either.)

Whether or not you keep your racism to your self, it doesn't change the fact that its a damaging and pointless attitude.

It's mostly just you. Do you think Caucasians are white? I would say they are not, they're mostly a peachy-pinkish color.

White people don't come in different tones? Do we need to take individuals down the paint aisle in Home Depot to classify them correctly? It's just a general title, and much better than calling someone an African who has never been to Africa. Geographic locations associated with nationalities shouldn't tie into a persons phenotype characteristics.

I think you are actually racist and are using parenthesis to make it appear like you are not.

I personally hate people who are Papaya Beige skinned. No reason why.

I don't know it does not bother me to be called Black. To be honest I don't really like being called African American, I am American, wish I could just go by that but being born brown I have no hopes of that happening. And due to fact that I have white people in my family, I kinda feel like I am denying them.

That's because of American society and it's social issues, not their skin color. Someone being Asian doesn't mean that they're genetically really good at academics, it's just because of their culture. I could go on but surely you get the point. Social issues and society dictate the stereotypes of different races and the statistics of them, not their genetics.
I'm not saying it's genetically programmed into them (I surely hope no-one thinks that? lol) but to say blacks doesn't commit more murders than white people is ignoring facts. To say whites don't commit more pedophiliac (yea I made it up) acts is once again, ignoring the facts.

I hope you don't think I was implying if you are black you will inherently commit a murder compared to a white person. I'm simply saying statistically speaking black people commit more murders than white people, etc.

Slightly off-topic. I think its quite honestly hilarious how a black person can call another black "nigga" but if a white person did it, it's a whole different story.

I also think it's hilarious how a black person will call another black person "brotha" or "cuz". I guess it's just cultures, but still.

Man, when I read text of how I feel about these things I really am racist I guess... :-/

What do you get when you factor in race
Believing that some should be put in their place
Be prepared for some flak if you judge every black

But on topic.... yes, it is a big deal. Unless you don't like the concept of a progressive and value-driven society based not on basal instincts and single-minded animalistic drives, but on intellectual values and logical thought processes.

Truthfully, this is the most idiotic comment in here. It really isn't funny purely due to the fact the guy has naturally tanned skin and/or tans. It's not like he has a medical condition to where your comment would have been slightly hinting at.

Racism is a form of prejudice, which is always wrong because it both pre-judges a person based on limited information, and presumes things to be true whether they are or not.

However, STEREOTYPES are a valuable tool for quickly forming a frame of reference. There is nothing wrong with stereotyping as long as you do not let it become a prejudice. There's a difference.

However, the term 'Racism' has been so bastardized and dilluted by both sides of the political spectrum that the term no longer holds any meaning. Like the Little Boy Who Cried Wolf - people scream racism so often for such trivialities and minutea that it has become so much background static. Which is really a shame, because it makes instances of real racism and actual prejudice all that much harder to take seriously.

I'm racist as hell. I'm also a minority. But I don't hate anyone over their race, and I certainly don't act different towards people based on color. But I will admit that if someone acts a certain way, I can say "it's because they're (race here)". It's really just an informal, shorthand version of me recognizing who someone is without going into the specifics and detail. It's a cultural, psychological, educational thing that makes people who they are, and it just so happens that often times people who have the same cultural, psychological, and educational experiences tend to be of the same color. Because most people of the same color stick around in the same environments, and thus they experience relatively the same thing. It's common sense, not racist. Racism is misunderstood, but I've given up on trying to get that idea across, so I'll just agree that sure, I'm racist.

Eh, I can understand where they're coming from with the N word, trying to give a positive spin to something that was used against them and stuff, I personally feel like the word has too much negative history but that's just a difference of opinion.

Cuz iirc is only really used by the Crips gang? Saying it randomly could get you into a lot of shit as (once again working from a vague memory) it's used to identify other gangbangers, so saying it is like making yourself a target.
