Thread: eyefinity?

    eyefinity?

How much does eyefinity take a toll on your graphics cards? I currently run with 2 ati radeon 7770's, and on each moniter (running 2 at the moment) run a resolution of 1440x900, so eyefinity would be 4320x900 instead of 5760x1080.

why would you want to run low res eyefinity setup?
    also for what games?

well, it's really not that low resolution lol. i would understand your viewpoint if i were at like, 1280x720 but 1440x900 still looks nice. and for games like Diablo and WoW, and any other games that have support for it and while yes i know wow doesn't "support" it persay it can be done.

Maybe I misunderstand what eyefinity is, but wouldn't it be 2880x900?

    Also, are your cards crossfired?

I think he wants to get another screen making it the 4320x900. I cant think why you want to run two screens, the bezels will be in the middle.
    Also, why 2x 7770? Why not go with 1x 7850 or 7870?

@chazus yes they are crossfire'd, and no... eyefinity is running 3 moniters in conjunction as one, Thus allowing the resolution of say 4320x900. 1440x3 is 4320, then the 900 is diagonal so that wouldn't change. here's an example of eyefinity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEahJM8uR1c

why run two moniters? for the sake of multitasking. my primary monitor is centered and the second monitor is to the left. i dont play games with 2 monitors lol... the game as of right now appears on my primary monitor. but it is nice to have 2 monitors for multi tasking.

question is still not answered. how much of a toll does it take on your graphics cards and system overall?

Ah, I thought eyefinity was simply running "More than one".

Eyefinity takes a decent toll. I know a 7770 alone can't even do it reliably. Two... eh. Maybe. They're nice cards but technically still pretty weak at higher resolutions, especially something like that.

I was aiming at gaming on both screens

But I guess you will half your FPS probably. Just check some graphs

Considering 1920x1200 @ 58fps and 5760x1080 (almost 3x) @ 23fps... that's pretty much 3 screens at 1/3 fps. So whatever fps you get on one screen, divide by 2-3 depending on how many screens you have.

Eyefinity would be weird with 2 monitors.. Absolute best with 3 since you can have middle for your normal game UI and side monitors just to increase FOV

You will get a FPS drop of 50-70%.
