I hope it's animated. If it's live action it'll look awful.

My thoughts exactly. Animation is too cartoony for WoW and live action is cheesy, but live action with CGI would be perfect

I expect an Avatar approach to this movie if it ever goes through.

The second line "live-action adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s video game universe."

Did you even read the link? :S

Going by the article at says

Duncan Jones is making the jump to big-budget tentpole movies, signing on to direct Warcraft, Legendary Pictures’ live-action adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s video game universe.
I'm pretty sure I heard them mention (Blizzard) that they were going to be focusing on Humans and that it would be Live action and wouldn't use any exsisting storyline going on in the game at all. But I may be mistaken on that.

I would also prefer a mix of CGI and Live action, but I guess we shall have to wait and see.

I never saw Moon, but Source Code wasn't bad. I'll be more interested in the actors chosen.

Yeah depending on the story they go with, I wonder which if any characters we already know will be in it, what if they don't put any well known characters in it!

I dunno if I would rather they chose a storyline (such as War of the Ancients, or the Rise of the Lich King etc) or just totally went off on a tangent with something completely new.

Not if you're self conscious about yourself and want to seem like a big serious adult.

WOW was created from the start with a cartoon vibe, with Saturday morning cartoon plot lines, in a way that is practically cartoon homage. The cinematics show how cool the world can look in a more realistic angle, but it still has the cartoony vibe even in the cinematics. I don't see it working in live action, because the over the top designs need to be over the top. It's kind of a shame, a Pixar like film would have been perfect for Warcraft.

I hope all the time that's been spent on this movie is due to Blizzard really wanting to get it right and they totally change my mind, but Warcraft is still perfect for fully animated media.

    Silent Hill?

Granted, I liked the Dungeons and Dragons movie (and Eragon, and the American Godzilla movie, which are all widely hated), so my opinion on movies may not be worth much to most people. :U

There are very good reasons for that. It's not because video games automatically make bad movies. That's called confirmation bias.
We could discuss those reasons, of which there are many.

Games and movies are two different things. Games have mechanics and movies have subject matter. Animated movies provide certain expectations.

Live action Warcraft has already been done with predecessors like LoTR. It's only natural they approach it this way, IMO.

bleh, "live action adaptation" lets hope for a few things:
    1. they have the budget to do this right.
    2. bring the right actors into it
    3. respect the source material but thankfully with WoW it shouldn't be hard to come up with something that could fit within the universe.
    4. FFS go with the avatar approach when it at least comes to the none human, dwarf, elf characters. if i see an orc in as an animatronic or guy in a suit tables will be flipped.
    5. expect none of the above to happen. this is hollywood we are talking about here.
