its ideed not gay per se ... i once had someone hugging me very long and intimate. a "nice to meet you" hug isnt gay at all. but i once had a friend of a friend that clearly mad a step-back when i wanted to greet him that way ... ;-) people are different and are custom to different things and gestures i think. in france for example hugging each and everyone is quite normal, where in germany 10years-ago-generation never any men hugged any other man, without beeing perceived as gay.

Now be honest, as men, are you someone who flinches at the idea of giving another man a hug, or even a pat on the back without needing to think twice about it? Is there an underlining fear involve in that kind of closeness to even another male friend?
I have no problem hugging or touching another man. But I think the reason wrestling is labeled gay isn't because of touching other men, it's the clothing that does it.
People who do boxing or kickboxing or MMA also touch eachother a lot, but they aren't labeled gay. So what gives?

Yeah, I really think it's the wrestling clothing that does it. Seriously, what kind of man would wear those ridiculous outfits? Yeah, perhaps it's actually useful for the sport but it still looks ridiculous.

to the wrestling thing i think its perceived as "gay" because the very kind of action this is. boxing is aggressive "bam, hit it", and yeah wrestling kinda looks like a very close and kind of tantric knot of two men ;-) im not homophobic, but i definetely say as a man that likes man as well as women, that definitely looks super-gay. especially this very position that is paused in the vid ;-) i donno if someone ever did thet when beeing young, but this definitely can lead to "strange feelings" and irretations if you are trapped this way ;-) there even some movies that have wrestling in it that lead to those situations afterwards... also its kinda porn thing, its often used there ... thats maybe the reason.

I'd like to see someone call Brock Lesnar gay to his face and see what happens if they think men touching is gay lol.

I have no problem with men touching eachother, each to their own. It's their life and they are entitled to lead it any way they choose/who they are. As for whats socially acceptable, we are not sheep who get herded we are entitled to our own minds. Make your own thoughts instead of copying other peoples. We are not meant to all be the same - for us to have come this far as a species proves this.

Yes you are entitled to differing opinions, what you are not entitled to do is talk like your opinion is what should matter more than anyone elses, it doesn't. Nice trolling though OP.

I am man and I touch man regularly. I hug man, I pat man on back, I touch man in many non-romantic/non-sexual ways. Man is my friend.
this. me and my male friends also kiss each other on the cheek or even on the mouth if we are drunk. its just bromance, nothing sexual.

Someone who is very fit and proud of their body, and also you dont want loose clothing or even too much clothing whilst wrestling, it gives your oponent too much to grab hold of.

I don't like touching people in general, but I don't dislike touching one sex more than the other.

  13. #273
Well, I can give a brotherly hug to a close friend and such, but that's very rare. A pat on the back is no problem. However, I would personally feel uncomfortable being as close as the wrestlers are. I don't label them as gay, but I do like some personal space, and frankly, touching other men doesn't really appeal to a straight male as me.

Well there is porn about everything so I woudl not put much stock in that arguement!

Believe me, the last thing you are thinking about when someone has their legs wrapped round your neck in a stranglehold is "my isnt this sexually exciting!", you are much more concerned with trying to breath or tapping out.
It really is not at all sexual, no more than rugby is and that involves lots of contact.

I do not. One doesn't become gay or anything of the like just from touching a guy. It's the same deal as two women, they have no problems (generally) in touching each other, although they're the same gender. That doesn't make them lesbians, does it?

I only hug men I know as friends. I don't hug my dad or brother and I certainly don't hug strangers, always handshakes. I'm not at all opposed to man hugs though, they can be quite fun in the right context, I hug everyone when I'm drunk and it's all in good fun, if a guy got the wrong idea and came on to me I'd probably just laugh.

It doesen't make you gay to give your male friends 3 kisses on the cheeks either, or come cuddle because you love your best friend so much!
Crying on your best friends lap or sleep in the same bed! Yet when women do these things no one cares, But when men do so its found gay!
Not that i find it weird or anything.

I was a top 10 wrestler in Washington state during high school and continued wrestling freestyle afterward. Obviously I don't fear the contact but at the same time I don't actively seek it, aside from matches and practice and whatnot.

Someone like Alistair Overeem could do that.

Hugs are a universal human interaction across all cultures and the entire history of the human race. There is no reason not to hug unless you have a reason to feel insecure about yourself.

I'm not advocating spending your time randomly hugging strangers, but it's proven, proven, that hugs lower blood pressure and improve production of oxytocin, nevermind the anecdotal evidence of good feelings and cheer.
