Guess I'll be the first to make my year end lists - and therefore also the one who gets to necro the AMCT. Yay me.

This has definitely been an odd year for kpop. On one hand, I've gotten a couple of new favourite groups, and especially girl groups have been pretty strong. On the other hand, a lot of groups have disbanded. Also namely girl groups.

It's definitely been an odd year. More and more 2nd gen groups disband, and for me personally not enough good ones debut to take their place. It's hard to stand out and be unique in such a competitive scene, and especially when groups rarely stick to one image. Thankfully Red Velvet dropped songs so good they could turn me, or I'd be incredibly emo right now. I doubt anyone is going to have something truly shocking on their list, but I'm a bit surprised by your choice of NCT song. I wasn't as big of a fan of the album as a whole as you were it seems. You're also ranking OMGirl higher than me which I don't think has happened before!

I feel like the drop/chorus was a bit too underwhelming and the song never really recovered from it, but it started off really good.

I can't go with Pistol's rule of 1 song per group, because in the case of Red Velvet they ruled this year so hard they need to be represented at least twice. I think these are my favorites by them, but you could put in almost any song from them and they'd still be top 5. In the hiphop list the link sometimes goes to a performance, when they do it's because I just prefer the live version. Edit: Seems notepad didn't like hangul, but fuck it there's a link anyway.

BAP #1 Nice! Possibly my fave boy group song this year. Theres a fair amount of songs I've never heard of there tbh. Stellars the wave was great though

@Katie N (Nguyen I assume) She's the only decent viet singer I've ever heard, and the none korean highlight of SEAs MAMAs this year, only heard a few songs by her before though, that one was okay.

This list was not easy to make considering that I listen to only handful of artists and the fact that a lot of 2nd gen GGs disbanded this year. There's only one surprise entry to the list which happened in the last couple of days, but otherwise mine's a very predictable list.

and 1,375 different songs (dont mind the hearts, I haven't bothered with those in ages)


for a total of 16,394 songs played. In the 5 years I've used last.fm it's my 4th slowest year. But apart from #1 (2014) they're all fairly close.

The Coloring Book mini didn't have very many amazing songs, unlike basically every other OMGirl release bar the summer special. And idk what you're talking about, I've totally always loved Red Velvet!!! Man, if only OMGirl could get more Jinyoung songs and/or SM-level producers. I'd be set for life.

Love that your album list has 3 RV releases, they absolutely slayed everything this year. Might have to relisten to Taeyeon a bit, I think I'd be more receptive to those kinds of songs atm than I was at release. OEC looks cool but I couldn't really get into their title track, maybe the b-sides are worth trying. I'm still not sold on their promotion idea with still no full group debut and Kim Lip's song is the only one I liked, but they probably have potential unless they go for some wannabe 80s shit that came back a bit last year (weird when fashion-wise it was 90s).

Worth listening to that album at least once to see if you like it, some great songs. Especially Chatoic that should probably have got an honarable mention b side too lol

Thoughts? Personally I like it more than LATATA and think it's nice to have a bit of a darker tone in a song (from a girl group) that's still catchy as hell.
