Looking to upgrade my system for WoW @ Ultra

Every time I see someone link to passmark I throw up a little in my mouth, it is so inaccurate that you can't take any number seriously. The GTX 690 is ranked below a GTX 580. GTX 590 is ranked below GTX 480.

Yeah, fair enough. There are some serious inaccuracies with those cards I do agree.

You only need to upgrade your GPU to get better performance. A 2500 should be sufficient.

So for the GPU, in your case I would go for a 7850/7870 (XT)/660. Seeing as you dont play that much else, more power is probably wasted.
I think the 7870 XT is probably your best bet, it has the price of a 7870, but is closer to the 7950 performance wise.

Here is also a benchmark to see how the cards perform (the XT is not on the list). There have been new drivers out for both sides, but I think this is still the latest review/benchmark.

im guessing low screen resolution/settings downscaled/solo areas only.

1980x1080 multisampling even at 8x and q9550 is clocked @ 3,8ghz so it's not problem at all for 2008 computers. During raids FPS is between 30-60. Sadly I don't have proof now.

Scroll down a bit on the first page and you will get to Ultra settings. the 7770 didn't even make that list.

That is comparing media graphic cards, they are weak.

Hehe my old system was pretty much the same as his only with gtx 275's I could run ultra back then. Yea it's missing some dx11 features but yea its more than possible the q9950 is still a strong little chip tbh

in the past sure, however on gpu front i still got my doubts. (also weren't 275's more powerfull compared to that ati card?)
