Read other posts first, before commenting please. High fps causes maximum power draw, which makes your onboard powersupply (VRM's) work at their max. I already looked at the boards, and the gigabyte has a reasonably modest power supply of 5vrm's. Compared to f.e. a ASUS DCII which has 8VRM's. Probably the high fps caps off earlier on his card due to the ONBOARD (NOT MAIN PSU) power supply.

So this is not something only common to GTX600 boards. Maybe because the refference boards of the GTX600 series are very small and have even more limited power supply, this may occur more often in comparisson to other PCB's.

Benchmarks with a non-retarded fps range the 5 phase seems to be sufficient, even at higher clocks. Which makes me question the purpose of the first test. Is it designed to test PCB quality, or just really wierd choice.

3Dmark 2013 is going to be multi-platform, possibly those 1000fps+ benches are meant for smartphones/tablets I think.

Well, i got coilwhine with my 7970 as well -.- Bloody annoying. Happens in some game menu's as well.

Come to think of it. It is also the reason you only see a real improvement in graphics score at the last test when using 2 cards. The other 2 tests dont need it.

I have coil whine even at 60 fps >.< Like 4 times RMA'ed and I just decided to give up. But I'll rather prefer to have coil whine at 1000fps than what I have now.

Found some fixes earlier, a simple way was just to use nonconductive glue on the coils so it attaches better to the pcb but it's only for open chokes, Asus DC2 are closed chokes so you can't do that. Another way is just to burn the s*** out of the card for a very long time, for example just run halo CE @ 2000fps and just leave it like 24hours. Some people got it fixed that way, but I haven't had the time for it to try it out.

The most easiest way and actually very very very handy is to force Vsync on through nvidia control panel or AMD CCC. If you have vsync enabled in Crysis, the loading menu's are still dancing at 3000fps but if you force it through CCC/NCP it's limited to 60 or 30fps only.

Just done another run through with my GPU in the first slot in my motherboard, so it was PCIE 3 x16 instead of 3 x8 ...

So for my second run through:

#1 - Slightly less on GPU, more on CPU.

#2 - Slightly more on GPU, less on CPU.

#3 - Very marginally less on all of them.

Basically, you'd need to run the test multiple times, come up with an average, then compare the two averages is what I've gathered really...

Because your CPU is working at 2PHz.

I suggest restarting your computer, updating drivers, and retrying.

But really anyone with a 670 will very likely have a score extremely similar to yours.
