They might be more likely to attend secondary education, but you make the grave mistake of assuming causation out of correlation. There could be any number of reasons that might affect that outcome.

Here are a couple off the top of my head:

1. Money.
A. College graduates typically have higher earnings than their peers who do not have the same level of education, and can afford to help their child afford college.
B. Those with a higher socioeconomic status often live in better areas with better rated public or private school systems, which might in turn affect college admission rates and success once enrolled.

2. Family/Society
A. Perhaps those with a college education view it as a positive and/or necessary experience for their progeny, pushing that point of view. Those who are expected to go to secondary education with that POV pushed since an early age may be more likely to attend/complete.
B. In an environment where the school and perhaps even friends are discussing what school they should attend when they finish HS, peer pressure to succeed/follow suit might also be similarly expected.


The point is, while evidence supports that people with college educations produce children who also get college educations, it is EXTREMELY presumptuous to assume why that reason is.

At no point does he say there is causation between the two. He merely pointed out the correlation between the two. You went and assumed he was saying there is a genetic causation or something. He just said, let's note debate nature vs. nurture. Then he said studies show that children of college educated parents are more likely to go to college themselves. He never said he supports either nature or nurture or any combination there of, he simply asked that people stick to facts and data.

On topic, I don't see the population going stupid. One thing I could see happening is more and more genetic defects degrading humanity.

I don't even understand how getting a serious job with responsibility requires years of education, driving requires a license, carrying a gun requires a license, but making and raising children, the most important and responsible thing there is, requires to just stick a dick in the hole. Parenting should require a license, too. Obligatory vasectomy for everyone until you prove you are worthy to bring up the future of this planet.

Let's not get into the whole nature vs. nurture crap shall we? Plenty of evidence out there to support the fact that children of college graduates are more likely to attend secondary education themselves.

Just because someone went to college doesn't mean they are smart, just means they had the money to do so. I've met more than my share of people with doctorate level degrees that were just plain fuckin stupid overall.

Intelligence certainly has a significant genetic component to it, but it seems clear that it is neither 100% heritable nor completely determined by nature alone (from twins studies).

I find it hard to believe that an uneducated, low intelligence couple could turn out someone like this.

She and her sisters are the result of an experiment where her parents decided to experiment with creating genius via child rearing.

All 3 sisters are either chess grandmasters or international masters.

Whether their talent comes purely from hard work or genetics is impossible to say, to be sure, but that doesn't really matter. What does matter is that your average Western family (whether American or European) lacks either the genetic or educational foundation to create a genius with anything close to the reliability that the Polgárs have done.

Point is, the nature vs nurture debate seems largely irrelevant when you consider that their experiment has shown that genius can reliably breed genius... and history proves every day that stupidity breeds stupidity.

Surely It's a simple numbers game.

Smart people are simply that. smarter. they wait till they are ready for kids. they do it right. this takes more time factoring in careers etc..

Stupid people dont care. they just want to fuck. so they are churning them out at a much faster rate, and not caring about the impact it will have.

combine that with modern medicine making it so stupid people stay alive longer (by that I mean idiots who without modern medicine wouldve died whilst say.. climbing a fence to break into somebodies yard and impaled their leg on the fence. if modern meds werent around to save him, he wouldve bled out. thus depriving the world of his future offspring (Although I doubt we missed out on much.)

in short, Science has made it so stupid people can live as long as the thinkers. the thinkers breed at a slower smarter rate. we will be a minority soon enough.
